The year is 2001. [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_m]Uriel[/name_m] recently got married in a magical [name_u]New[/name_u] Year’s [name_u]Day[/name_u] ceremony, and are now ready to settle down and start their lives as a married couple. They own a 3 bedroom starter home in Lila’s hometown of [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u], Nebraska. The city has good job opportunities for both of them - [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] is an engineer, and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is a personal trainer - and is also regarded as a good place to raise a family.

2001: After just 3 months of marriage, [name_f]Lila[/name_f] falls pregnant! She and [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] are overjoyed. Their daughter, [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], is born in [name_u]December[/name_u] during a snowstorm.
2002: [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] decide to take [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] to Barbados for 2 weeks. The family have an amazing time, even though baby [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] is too young to remember anything.
2003: [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] win family feud along with Lila’s parents and younger brother! They put their share of the winnings into Sydney’s college fund as they are financially comfortable without it.
2004: [name_f]Lila[/name_f] gives birth to her and Griffin’s second child, a baby boy. 2 year old [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] is excited to be a big sister, and refers to little [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] as “her baby”.
2005: The whole family falls ill with flu! Fortunately none of them are seriously ill, but managing 2 sick toddlers when both parents are also sick is far from easy. They all make a full recovery after 2 weeks, much to [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & Lila’s relief.
2006: Griffin’s job offers an amazing opportunity for the family to move to Tokyo! After careful consideration, they decide to take the chance as it’s unlikely to be available again.
2007: [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] begs for a pet, but [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] feel that it would be impractical to get a pet in the big city environment of Tokyo. As a compromise, they get a fish tank. They let [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] name the three fish inside, and she chooses Sazae, [name_m]Katsuo[/name_m], & Wakame after the characters from her favourite Japanese cartoon.
2008: [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] receives a promotion! [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] starts elementary school in [name_f]April[/name_f], so in [name_u]March[/name_u] the family use the extra money to take a trip back to [name_u]America[/name_u] in order to visit family.
2009: [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] finally cave in and get a dog. They decide to get a Shiba Inu as Lila’s friend happens to be a breeder. As [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] named the three fish, [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] is allowed to name the dog. He chooses [name_f]Keiko[/name_f], his best friend’s name.
2010: The excitement of Tokyo is a dream for [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f], but now that they have basic Japanese skills they feel that it’s time to move away from the big city. They have to stay fairly close for Griffin’s work, and they find the perfect place - Kamakura, just an hour and a half away from the city. It’s also on the coast, which fulfils Lila’s long-time dream of raising her kids near the beach.
2011: Griffin’s job offers him an opportunity to relocate again, this time to Christchurch in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Zealand[/name_u]. [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] starts elementary school in Japan in [name_u]March[/name_u], but the family move in [name_u]June[/name_u] - just after his 7th birthday. This puts him in year 2 in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Zealand[/name_u], meaning that he needs extra support as his classmates are more than a year ahead of him.
2012: [name_f]Lila[/name_f] gives birth to a baby girl. She wasn’t really planned, but they are excited nonetheless, and [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] feels a sense of pride at finally being a big brother.
2013: [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] receives a sizable inheritance after his uncle passes away. He decides to put half of the money into his & Lila’s savings, and split the rest 3 ways into the kids’ savings.
2014: [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] starts high school, and manages to break her arm after just a month whilst playing football. She makes a quick recovery, and returns to the game soon after.
2015: [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] decide to have a fourth child so that [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] has a sibling closer in age to her. The baby is a boy, which evens the family dynamics out.
2016: [name_f]Lila[/name_f] wins Masterchef! The family use the money to go back to [name_u]America[/name_u] for a few weeks over [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] & [name_u]New[/name_u] Years.
2017: Lila’s parents decide that they want to retire to [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Zealand[/name_u] and spend more time with their grandchildren, so they move in with the family for a few months while they get everything sorted.
2018: [name_f]Lila[/name_f] falls pregnant with a surprise daughter! Given that [name_u]Remington[/name_u] is only 3, she and [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] are not too worried about the age gap, but [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] starts high school and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] starts elementary school this year!
2019: [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] graduates high school. To celebrate, she decides to enter a competition, which she wins! She puts the money towards her gap year funds as she wants to travel the world.
2020: Griffin’s job takes him to Auckland, on the other side of the country. [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] doesn’t make the move with them as she is in [name_u]South[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u] when they go, and she will be attending university after she’s done travelling.
