Yes... I DO like that name.

Have you ever felt like saying “YES I like that name.”
I do a lot. I can’t help liking the names. I can have [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], [name_m]Blade[/name_m] and [name_m]Rocket[/name_m] on the same list as [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] because that’s what I like. I can love [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] and not like [name_m]Albert[/name_m]. My taste isn’t just one style. I like classic and modern names. Does anybody else have favourites or combos that cause a few raised eyebrows?

Some of mine are:
GIRLS: [name_f]Summerbreeze[/name_f], [name_f]Jazmyne[/name_f], [name_u]Karol[/name_u], [name_f]Richarda[/name_f], [name_u]Gary[/name_u]
Boys: [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_m]Blade[/name_m], [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], [name_m]Rocket[/name_m]
What about anyone else?

Names that raise eyebrows: (just to name a few)

Girls:
[name_f]Amethyst[/name_f]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]
[name_u]Monroe[/name_u]
[name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f]
[name_f]Leia[/name_f]
[name_f]Starling[/name_f]
[name_u]Constantine[/name_u]
[name_f]Minka[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunshine[/name_f]

Boys:
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m]
Israfel
[name_m]Nicodemus[/name_m]
[name_m]Banyan[/name_m]
Kestrel

hah, pretty much all my favourite names raise eyebrows when I mention them to people in real life!

My alltime fave that I am 99% certain I will end up using on my first child is ‘[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]’. My family all think I’m nuts and that it’s terrible, but you can’t help what you like!

[name_u]Dylan[/name_u] (on a girl!!!)
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] (boy)
[name_f]Blossom[/name_f] (girl)
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] (girl)
[name_m]Cove[/name_m] (boy)
Patch (OK, I now only like it as a nickname, but still)
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]…
[name_f]Isis[/name_f]…
[name_u]November[/name_u]…
Pretty much my whole list. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep. These are the names that got a few looks from some friends and family.
[name_u]Austen[/name_u] and [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m] for boys, [name_f]Florence[/name_f] for girls. Some family members love them, some have no idea what to think. [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m] definitely gets the most looks, especially from people who aren’t familiar with the Bible.

@theodora: [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] on a boy is pretty normal, I’ve met one. I’ve seen [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] being used on a male character too.
@privacy: My liking for [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] is growing and I think Kestrel’s a cool name (one of my favourite animal name)
@maia: [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] is such a gorgeous and unique name, I really like it.
@raevynstar: I love [name_u]November[/name_u] too! It’s my top name on my GP list!
@sun: [name_f]Florence[/name_f] sounds pretty normal for a girl? o:

Well, for me, my GP List basically:
Girls: [name_u]November[/name_u], [name_u]January[/name_u], [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f], [name_u]Haven[/name_u], [name_u]Devon[/name_u], [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
Boy: [name_f]July[/name_f], Shylor, [name_m]Lars[/name_m], [name_m]Jun[/name_m], [name_m]Castor[/name_m], [name_m]Callen[/name_m], [name_m]Aries[/name_m], Renier

Oh, yes!

[name_u]Auburn[/name_u], [name_m]Donnie[/name_m] (girl), [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_f]Arwen[/name_f], [name_f]Anwen[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f]/[name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Katya[/name_f], [name_f]Soleil[/name_f], [name_f]Twyla[/name_f], [name_f]Suki[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f]
[name_m]Cassian[/name_m], [name_m]Astin[/name_m], [name_m]Martin[/name_m], [name_m]Walter[/name_m]

Some of these are not that weird, but to my friends and family, they are soso out there.

I absolutely love [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]…and everyone I’ve ever mentioned them to hates them utterly.

I like [name_f]Honey[/name_f], but it everyone uses this name as example of name NOT to be used… hahaha.

My mother thought my son had just made up names when he told her what our name list was. She raised her eyebrow and said, “you can’t name your brother after [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars characters” and laughed. 1) none of them are from [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars, 2) he wasn’t making them up, they are our final 3, and 3) they aren’t that weird (at least in the realm of nameberry)

~ [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] ~ [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] ~ [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]~

@steampunkleo:
I love [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] too! My mother certainly isn’t a fan of that one…

All the time! Some aren’t even that unusual but not common where I live I guess.

Some of mine:
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Lyric[/name_u]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_f]Emerald[/name_f]
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f]
[name_f]Journey[/name_f]

[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]/ [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_m]Cian[/name_m]
[name_m]Hendrix[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Knox[/name_m]

There’s a few my friends and family have raised some eyebrows at…

Grimsby/Grimley/Grimm- obviously they have an issue with the Grimm Reaper association.

[name_f]Constance[/name_f]- love this… My husband and family think it’s too old fashioned :frowning:

[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]- I love this on it’s own and as a nn for [name_f]Constance[/name_f] (I know, it’s kind of odd, but if a Stansie works why not [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]?) everyone I’ve said it to think that it is, well, odd.

[name_f]Meadow[/name_f]- absolutely love it! With the nn [name_u]Mo[/name_u]. All they can see is a hippy when I mention it. :frowning:

[name_u]Constantine[/name_u], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]- all of these I love and everyone I’ve mentioned it to classified them as “too fancy” compared to my kids names. O.o

… There’s probably more but this is just at the top of my head.

Girls: [name_u]Adair[/name_u], [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] (my dad liked it though!), [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]
Boys: [name_m]Canaan[/name_m], [name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_u]Memphis[/name_u], [name_u]Jensen[/name_u], [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] (I don’t like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m])

Most of these are on my guilty pleasure list and I wouldn’t use them for a kid, but I do love the way they look/sound.

[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_m]Aurelius[/name_m]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_m]Elvis[/name_m]
[name_m]Jupiter[/name_m]
[name_m]Ludo[/name_m]
[name_u]Neptune[/name_u]
[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] (WOULD use on a child)
Uranus

[name_f]Gaia[/name_f]
Illara
[name_f]Indie[/name_f]

Besides [name_f]Honey[/name_f], I like [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f] and [name_u]Paisley[/name_u], but I don’t think they will ever be on my list, since I don’t love them. Also, [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] don’t get much love, people love [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] or [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] more, but I think [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is much more sweeter and regal.

I usually try not to talk names with people because I know I’m gonna get negative reactions, so there are only a few:

[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] - “But that’s a cat name!” NOPE. Not sure where people got that. In Pinocchio [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] is a goldfish and in [name_m]Clifford[/name_m] the Big [name_u]Red[/name_u] Dog she’s a purple poodle. Anyway, none of that matters to me. I don’t care whether people think of cats or poodles or neon pink stegosauruses. I love it.
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] - Keep the charm bracelets and internet radio coming. Nothing will tarnish my love for this one.
[name_f]Odile[/name_f] - I can see why other people don’t like it, I just don’t care.
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] - My mom didn’t like this one, so I made her watch Orphan [name_m]Black[/name_m].
[name_f]Aliena[/name_f] - My mom had better not say anything about this one or she’ll be watching Pillars of the [name_f]Earth[/name_f] and several As You Like It adaptations, too.

For boys it’s [name_u]Oberon[/name_u], [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m], [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] and [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u]. But I like so few boys’ names that I’m holding on to the ones I do like, no matter what!

I would never use these, but I like them anyway!

[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_u]Ember[/name_u]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Kaisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
[name_u]November[/name_u] [name_u]Rain[/name_u] (I love the song!)
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
[name_u]River[/name_u]

Aleksander
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_m]Icarus[/name_m]
[name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_m]Ryker[/name_m]

Oh yes! There are a lot of names that I love that would totally get weird reactions if I used them.

Girls:
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (I haven’t gotten many good reactions to this name. I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] it, but most of my family thinks it’s too old fashioned)
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f] (My mom actually likes this one. I was shocked!)
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] ([name_m]Lay[/name_m]-oh-nee)
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f]

Boys:
Caldeon ( I would use this one in a heartbeat. [name_m]Just[/name_m] afraid of pronunciation issues. I say it [name_u]Cal[/name_u]-uh-den)
[name_m]Breccan[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_m]Nehemiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] (See [name_m]Caledon[/name_m])
[name_f]Elin[/name_f] (ee-lin)

Almost all of middle names I like get raised eyebrows.
