Have you ever felt like saying “YES I like that name.”
I do a lot. I can’t help liking the names. I can have [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], [name_m]Blade[/name_m] and [name_m]Rocket[/name_m] on the same list as [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] because that’s what I like. I can love [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] and not like [name_m]Albert[/name_m]. My taste isn’t just one style. I like classic and modern names. Does anybody else have favourites or combos that cause a few raised eyebrows?

hah, pretty much all my favourite names raise eyebrows when I mention them to people in real life!
My alltime fave that I am 99% certain I will end up using on my first child is ‘[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]’. My family all think I’m nuts and that it’s terrible, but you can’t help what you like!

Yep. These are the names that got a few looks from some friends and family.
[name_u]Austen[/name_u] and [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m] for boys, [name_f]Florence[/name_f] for girls. Some family members love them, some have no idea what to think. [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m] definitely gets the most looks, especially from people who aren’t familiar with the Bible.
@theodora: [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] on a boy is pretty normal, I’ve met one. I’ve seen [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] being used on a male character too. @privacy: My liking for [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] is growing and I think Kestrel’s a cool name (one of my favourite animal name) @maia: [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] is such a gorgeous and unique name, I really like it. @raevynstar: I love [name_u]November[/name_u] too! My mother thought my son had just made up names when he told her what our name list was. She raised her eyebrow and said, “you can’t name your brother after [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars characters” and laughed. 1) none of them are from [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars, 2) he wasn’t making them up, they are our final 3, and 3) they aren’t that weird (at least in the realm of nameberry)

Grimsby/Grimley/Grimm- obviously they have an issue with the Grimm Reaper association.

[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]- I love this on it’s own and as a nn for [name_f]Constance[/name_f] (I know, it’s kind of odd, but if a Stansie works why not [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]?) everyone I’ve said it to think that it is, well, odd.
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f]- absolutely love it! With the nn [name_u]Mo[/name_u]. All they can see is a hippy when I mention it.
[name_u]Constantine[/name_u], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]- all of these I love and everyone I’ve mentioned it to classified them as “too fancy” compared to my kids names. O.o
… There’s probably more but this is just at the top of my head.
Most of these are on my guilty pleasure list and I wouldn’t use them for a kid, but I do love the way they look/sound.

Besides [name_f]Honey[/name_f], I like [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f] and [name_u]Paisley[/name_u], but I don’t think they will ever be on my list, since I don’t love them. Also, [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] don’t get much love, people love [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] or [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] more, but I think [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is much more sweeter and regal.
I usually try not to talk names with people because I know I’m gonna get negative reactions, so there are only a few:
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] - “But that’s a cat name!” NOPE. Not sure where people got that. In Pinocchio [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] is a goldfish and in [name_m]Clifford[/name_m] the Big [name_u]Red[/name_u] Dog she’s a purple poodle. Anyway, none of that matters to me. I don’t care whether people think of cats or poodles or neon pink stegosauruses. I love it.
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] - Keep the charm bracelets and internet radio coming. Nothing will tarnish my love for this one.
[name_f]Odile[/name_f] - I can see why other people don’t like it, I just don’t care.
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] - My mom didn’t like this one, so I made her watch Orphan [name_m]Black[/name_m].
[name_f]Aliena[/name_f] - My mom had better not say anything about this one or she’ll be watching Pillars of the [name_f]Earth[/name_f] and several As You Like It adaptations, too.
For boys it’s [name_u]Oberon[/name_u], [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m], [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] and [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u]. But I like so few boys’ names that I’m holding on to the ones I do like, no matter what!
