Yesenia?

What do you think of the name [name_f]Yesenia[/name_f]? I discovered it the other day when I was looking at past SSA data and I quite like it.

It’s a Spanish name and from what I can find, a type of tree? It’s pronounced as “yes-enn-ya”.

I’m quite enchanted by it, but I’m not sure if it works with my other choices? [name_f]My[/name_f] list (mix of GPs and usable faves) can be found here for reference: listography: error

Thanks :sparkling_heart:

I grew up with a [name_f]Yesenia[/name_f], pronounced Yeh-sen-ee-ah. I always loved her name, but never knew the meaning. I’m not sure it fits in with the rest of your names, but I would hold onto it any way if I were you.

I love the name I’ve always heard it (yeh-senny-uh) but that might be a southwest variation.

I really dislike this name for unknown reasons to be honest. There’s something about the Y and S that just doesn’t do it for me. I know quite a few as it’s popular in Mexico but it never gives me positive vibes so to speak. It’s not a bad name at all but I think there’s better choices

I’m not a fan of how the first three letters are “yes”, but it’s okay otherwise. I feel like it would be pronounced yes-in-ee-uh in [name_f]English[/name_f]-speaking countries.

Yesenia feels like it could work with [name_f]Alondra[/name_f] and [name_f]Monique[/name_f]. It has that same international vibe

I like it. It reminds me of [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f].

I like it, but IMO it’s too close to Yersinia Pestis, the bacteria which causes Plague.

I think it’s really pretty, I don’t know any Yesenias but I do know Evgeny Kuznetsov’s daughter is Ecenia which I’ve always found really pretty. I think I would say it yuh-sen-ee-uh, but I like it either way - the subtle floral reference is a plus for me

I know a [name_f]Yesenia[/name_f], also pronounced Yeh-senny-a. She tells people who can’t say her name to call her [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] so I always wondered if the names were related. No one calls her [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] though because [name_f]Yesenia[/name_f] isn’t that hard to say once you get familiar with it. I like it because its different. Not my style for adding to my own list but I like that I’ve only ever met one person with this name and its a name that really grows on you.

I love this name! Its pronounced more like Jes-sen-ee-ah in Spanish. I won’t use it though because my brother [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] married a [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] so there are too many people named “[name_u]Jess[/name_u]”.

I think it’s lovely! I’m inclined to say it DOES fit in with your other names. Although of a slightly different style and origin, the sound it makes feels cohesive with your other names. Definitely keep it - it’s a beautiful name!
