My hubby and I had no problem agreeing on boys names but we just can’t find our baby girls name. It has been months of him coming home and me giving him a list of names and him not liking any. Now he finally tells me to just pick a name and I have gone through so many that I don’t even know what I like anymore plus it doesn’t feel right to me to pick a name I know he does not like. He really didn’t like any of my choices, like REALLY disliked them.
Some of my top choices in the beginning included [name_f]Naya[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Zahara[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f].
His are [name_f]Kiara[/name_f], [name_f]Milena[/name_f], [name_f]Alina[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].
I tried out [name_f]Alina[/name_f] and [name_f]Milena[/name_f] and they just don’t fit her even though he insists they do. They actually made me cringe. I have a love/hate relationship with [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] too. It intrigues me but does’t seem to have the depth in a name I would like. Plus I really do not like the nickname [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] which is what my hubby calls her for now. I really want something that is beautiful but not too popular. I have kind of warmed up to [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] but my hubbys sister has a dog named [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and we are hesitant to use this name because of this. We also live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and it seems like their are [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]'s everywhere.
My hubby really wants a name that is not too exotic which is exactly what I tend to like and I want to honor this. I am currently loving all the old vintage names but can’t seem to find the right one that both fits and that is not too popular.
I also love nature flowers names but he does not so much.
I know this is pretty open and I feel like I have gone through every name there is but does anyone have any ideas for us? Any advice or name suggestions is greatly appreciated Thank You!
Suggestions:
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] seem like they might bridge the gap.
If he’s already calling her [name_f]Kiki[/name_f], how about a different name that can use it as a nickname?
[name_f]Karina[/name_f], [name_f]Cosima[/name_f], [name_f]Kara[/name_f], [name_f]Callista[/name_f] (or [name_f]Kallista[/name_f]), [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], [name_f]Katarina[/name_f]
What about [name_f]Alice[/name_f]? Has that vintagey feel to it, same sounding as [name_f]Grace[/name_f] of hubby’s list and I think it fits in well with your list too.
What about [name_f]Hope[/name_f]? [name_f]Hope[/name_f] has that shortness you guys both like and it’s similar to [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] or [name_f]Hope[/name_f] [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] would be pretty.
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Alienor[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Leandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Amber[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Mavis[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
I’m sure you’ve already considered it, but what about [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] as the nickname? It bridges the gap with a name that you and your husband both love, holds that flowery feel, and avoids the popular [name_f]Rosie[/name_f].
I agree with Ciottolo about [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] NN [name_f]Rosa[/name_f].
Also, new possibilities that might fit the gap:
[name_u]Adria[/name_u]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiora[/name_f]
[name_f]Honora[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_f]Valeria[/name_f]
[name_f]Veda[/name_f]
[name_f]Verona[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Evita[/name_f]
What about the [name_f]Chiara[/name_f] spelling of [name_f]Kiara[/name_f]? It gives the name more depth for me. If you chose a C middle name you could call her [name_f]Cece[/name_f] which is slightly better than [name_f]Kiki[/name_f]. [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], [name_f]Cara[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are also nice.
Instead of [name_f]Alina[/name_f], would you like [name_f]Lena[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f]?
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] - [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] or [name_f]Nola[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (a) - [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Collette[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] - [name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Nia[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
The nickname [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] really seems to freshen up [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - wonderful suggestion
[name_f]Amara[/name_f] and [name_f]Alina[/name_f] are similar, based on that how about:
[name_u]Akira[/name_u]
[name_f]Alaina[/name_f]
[name_f]Aleta[/name_f]
Alora
[name_f]Elana[/name_f] (Ee- [name_u]Lane[/name_u]-ah)
[name_f]Alida[/name_f] (a-lee-da)
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
Since your husband is already calling her [name_f]Kiki[/name_f], how about considering something that can be shortened to [name_f]Kiki[/name_f]? Basically that would be any with a prominent k sound and some sort of i in it.
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], [name_f]Christine[/name_f], [name_f]Karina[/name_f], [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], [name_f]Erica[/name_f], [name_f]Angelica[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f],
Maybe your husband could transition to Ceecee, in which case you could also consider names like [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f], and [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
Let us know what you pick!!!
I like the suggestion of [name_f]Chiara[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] even though sounds the same. Names I love on your combined lists are [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] and [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] are ok. Im not a fan of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].
Some other ideas of names I like based on the sounds and styles in your lists:
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_f]Kerensa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Samara[/name_f]
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]
[name_f]Alethea[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
What about [name_f]Olive[/name_f]? It’s similar enough to his suggestion of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] but has the same vintage feel (and colour connection) with your [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
I like the suggestions of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. They definitely sit nicely between antique and trendy. Though I don’t like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], I do like the suggestion of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] for you. That way, you both get a name you like.
I know you said you like flower or nature names, but your hubby doesn’t, however [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] was one of the first names that popped into my head for you. It is a nature name for you, but not a super obvious one for your hubby. It is a little popular, but not overly so and still has a vintage sound to me. It also has the -a ending that you both seem to favor. [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] is also one that bridges the gap between antique and trendy. It has the more vintage vibe of [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] while still having the more trendy L- beginning and -a ending. Same with [name_f]Leona[/name_f], as well.
I’m going to suggest that you choose a more classically used like vintage virtue name and maybe a nature name for the middle. Four months isn’t crazy old to be nameless but I agree its probably quite frustrating to both of you at soon she will start to learn her name so I would choose something. Rather than trying to settle or choose between styles, I think a few names might fit both of your interests. I also agree, I know so many [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]'s and yes I know a [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and all those R -ee names, everywhere.
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_u]Clair[/name_u] perhaps? Also I would really start looking at the meaning of names and words since you have gotten to know your child. If she is your first you may not know this but babies grow into people tat really are the same as those babies… I have children that I can look back even at the pregnancy and say yes that’s it, that was my child then and is now, personalities are strong things. [name_f]Verity[/name_f] means [name_u]Truth[/name_u] and [name_u]Clair[/name_u] would be clarity, or grace would be grace of course… maybe something like this that’s classic and also underused, different, or name her [name_u]True[/name_u] or [name_u]Freedom[/name_u] or something? I’m looking back at family trees at this point,
I also thought of nessa as in [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] or [name_f]Nola[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] even js subtle and sweet… its hard to name people, its a big decision but maybe you’re looking for something that suites you both and is bot classic and fun and different and new and meaningful. Hold all this special little things?
Wow, thanks so much for reading and responding everyone! It is so appreciated!!! I have been pondering the suggestion of calling her [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and then [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] for NN and have come to the realization that I really just don’t like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or would have done this sooner. I really just prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. When I look at her she seems like such a [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to me but I just can’t get around my worry about the popularity thing. I read my hubby many of the name suggestions that were given here but none seem to fit the bill for both of us. I loved [name_f]Lena[/name_f], which we pondered before but is the name of a friends daughter, also loved [name_f]Margot[/name_f] but he said no, and loved the idea of the vintage virtue names, but they were too out there for him. Another name I forgot about that we both kind of like is [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and so I brought this back to the table. I forgot I liked [name_u]Eden[/name_u] a lot in the beginning but my hubby doesn’t like unisex names so I suggested [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and he said maybe. We both feel it is a little short but we have a complicated last name so may work well. I like that it is not so popular, at least not where we live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]. Any thoughts on [name_f]Eve[/name_f]? Or if she seems like a [name_f]Rose[/name_f] should we just go for it and forget about popularity?
If he’s already calling her [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] then maybe [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], [name_f]Kiana[/name_f], Kyomi…something like that. My friend’s name is [name_f]Caralie[/name_f] (K-ar-ah-lee) which I think is acceptable for a [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] nickname (because I call her kiki) , doesn’t really fit with either of your name lists though. [name_f]Kalilah[/name_f] might fit or [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] would really fit actually.
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] is very pretty, I love [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to me sounds too common but it’s beautiful
