Dad’s daughter of a prior relationship. She used to not get along with Hermia but is now very close with her. Knew Pearl as a classmate in her school before becoming her stepsister and likes Pearl’s lifestyle and her name, seeing that she is a fan of jewels. She is born in March and is an Aries. Loves jewelry design and wants to be a jeweler. She loves mysterious people and likes to find out more about them. Recently lost her elderly Labrador retriever, Bart.

He doesn’t understand Pearl’s taste in music but she always gets him a slurpie after baseball practice if she picks him up. He plays for a travel team and is an assistant captain because he’s such a positive player. He’s a jokester and is always looking out for others.

He is very close with people and always feels a sense of togetherness when around his family. His wife died of leukemia 2 years prior, leaving behind her husband and four children, two of whom are grown. The two adult children pay for bills and have their own jobs, but temporarily moved back in to support the family’s needs. The father likes to be a professional man but is a very real and raw person on the inside.

Genghis’s new girlfriend, in her early 30s, has been in abusive relationships before, but thinks she’s found her forever husband now. She is young enough to have a baby, but has reproductive problems and has done for a long time.

Genghis’s eldest child at 24. They’re non-binary and work as a photographer, primarily in the realm of fashion, having been encouraged by their late mother. From a young age they’ve been strongly tied to their Chinese culture and - although they weren’t too friendly with Ria initially - now they’ve come to warm up to her, they’ve talked to her more about this and are helping her learn how to speak Mandarin. They have a long-term girlfriend who they’re planning on living with once they feel it’s a good time to move out, regularly letting her stay for long weekends with their fathers’ permission. Often they find themselves mediating conflicts involving their youngest siblings, who they know are struggling the most with these recent changes.

The eldest daughter and second child at 22, as well as Orion’s closest confident. Working as a model and doing well in the business, in spite of some concerns about the stability for her career her parents initially had. She travels a lot thanks to the nature of her job but is doing her best to cut back so she’s around more for others, especially her younger siblings who she knows struggle with their mother’s passing more than they tell their dad. In the eyes of some she can seem a little flighty and off in her own world, but she tends to get in her own head a lot, preferring to face her worries and problems alone - arguably a side effect of having to take on a maternal role once her mom passed away, and before [name_f]Ria[/name_f] entered the picture. She feels she wasn’t really cut out for this, but only [name_u]Orion[/name_u] is aware of this unhappiness, trying their best to convince her otherwise.
The idea of a new baby seems a little uncomfortable to her, as her own mother hasn’t been gone that long, and truthfully she’s upset with her father for the decision. Still, she doesn’t hold it against [name_f]Ria[/name_f] or the surrogate, who she’s always polite and goes out of her way to chat to - as she suspects at least one of them may feel like an outsider. Sometimes her responsibilities call though, and she has to make tracks in order to attend a runway or photoshoot; using this time to reflect on life and what she hopes to accomplish. As of now, aside from her family being happy and continuing to progress in her career, she doesn’t really know…but there’s still a lot of time for those questions to be answered.

The third child who’s just turned 14. She still feels out of place with how much things have changed since her mom died, and admittedly prefers to keep her distance from her dad and Ria right now - still not feeling comfortable with how quickly Genghis seemed to move on in her eyes. School is her greatest escape: not just taking comfort in spending time with her beloved friend group, but also in how determined she is to do well academically, specifically having dreams to become an oncologist, after seeing her grandmother pass away from cancer. Independence is something she craves though, and she hates feeling babied by any of her siblings, even if she loves Orion and Neve dearly.

The fourth child and only son, age 12. Has a bad habit of giving into peer pressure and tends to rage with Genghis having to explain to teachers and coaches “He’s going through something at his age no one should have to go through”. He does not like to talk about his emotions and doesn’t feel comfortable with a new half-sibling and hopes Genghis and Ria wait longer to get engaged and get married, which he tells his older siblings since he is not comfortable sharing this with his father or with Ria and knows his siblings relate to him. Although he does not want a new sibling so soon, he hates being the baby of the family and hopes the new sibling will get Genghis off his back whenever Genghis nags him about school and grades and behaviour. Still, he loves his father and wants to be professional like him when he is an adult.

Within the household she does feel a little awkward, being aware of the tension between the younger children and their parents, but feels it isn’t her place to comment on anything, preferring to spend her time with [name_f]Ria[/name_f] who she’s become good friends with. Her own family are a little apprehensive when it comes to her choice of acting as surrogate, but have mostly come to accept her decision - even if they insist on ringing her frequently to ensure she’s certain in this choice. The dad of the family, who’s a bit older than his wife at 55, and an artist who has a studio in the back garden area of the house. He’s good friends with his neighbour [name_m]Genghis[/name_m] Zhao and often talks to him about the anticipated arrival of the youngest child in that household, whom he hopes will become friends with his grandchild. Thanks to their careers, he was the parent who stayed at home raising the children whilst they grew up and doesn’t care if anyone thinks this is unconventional or emasculating for him - being very confident in himself as a person and proud of everything his wife’s accomplished. His dad jokes are legendarily bad though and never fail to make the kids look like they want to melt into the ground: a weapon he’s very proud of and always happy to activate.

The daughter of [name_m]Mark[/name_m] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] who’s just started attending college but has remained at home with her parents due to the loss of her older brother, and how it’s made her want to stick close to what’s familiar and (admittedly) feels safe. This trauma has landed her in therapy sessions, something she found hard to come to terms with initially as she always feared the idea of being seen as mentally unstable after being diagnosed with anxiety when she was 17 - but these sessions have considerably helped her with both reconciling what happened to her late older sibling, and also properly processing her grief in the wake of how suddenly he was lost to the family. She’s studying music, with hopes of becoming an orchestral harp player, however she does play piano and violin too - even if she’s never been shy about which instrument is her ultimate priority, and it’s undeniable she’s quite the perfectionist when it comes to her techniques; always striving to play to her highest ability. [name_f]Music[/name_f] has always been her greatest form of self-expression and she composes her own pieces occasionally, although these aren’t really heard by anyone outside the family or closest friends unless she’s feeling particularly proud of what she’s created; usually preferring a dreamlike quality in the vibe her music gives off, having long been inspired by fantastical scores.
Currently she’s dating [name_m]Drake[/name_m] [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], who lives on Elmwood [name_f]Street[/name_f], and the pair have been together since they were 16. He helped her considerably while she processed the loss of her brother and in turn, she’s supported him in his own choice to not attend university, something certain people balk at thanks to societal expectations. Her younger sibling does get on her nerves sometimes and they’ve never been the closest, but maturing has allowed the pair to get along easier, as well as their mutual love of their brother’s child. Admittedly she doesn’t always understand why his ex decided to have nothing to do with her own child but feels it isn’t her place to judge, more being concerned that the shock and grief has impacts the young woman more than she’ll admit to anyone: albeit approaching her is something this girl finds overwhelming, as she doubts she could wrap everything up nicely with her own nervous tendencies.
