Your Current Top 5 Girl Names?

Middle names included. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to explain the name, the story behind it, the meaning, why you like it, if you feel it flows well… etc…

I’m horrible with girls names and hearing some true favorites and gems from all of you berries would really help get my creative juices flowing.

Thank you~

This is just what I needed as I sort through old and new favorites! Thanks

  1. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] NN [name_f]Leia[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is a name I loved as a little girl, and re-discovered recently. It has a rhythmic melodic roll, it is unusual, it is centuries old, it stands out from the soft vowels and liquids of current popularity. [name_u]Skye[/name_u] is expansive & modern, it flows with the sound of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], and softens it. [name_f]Leia[/name_f], as in [name_f]Princess[/name_f], came about as I played with NN for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] & leaped to [name_f]Leia[/name_f]. It stuck. I love it.

  2. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f]
The more I think about it the more [name_f]Jane[/name_f] appeals to me. It is not too popular; it is at a low #354 in the U.S. Historically [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is the heroine of so many songs, romances, films, adventures. No pronunciation issues. [name_f]Verity[/name_f] is a new love and it gives something unique & appealing to [name_f]Jane[/name_f].

  3. [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] NN [name_f]Sasa[/name_f]
I like that it is uncommon, yet familiar, and it is spelled phonetically. I think it pairs well with [name_f]Ava[/name_f], a name I love but cannot put first b/c it is too popular. [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] sounds sassy and strong and pretty. I like that it is associated with a rare spice from flowers, and bright color.

  4. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] NN [name_f]Roe[/name_f]
I love the beautiful sound of this name. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time I say it I know I can enjoy the sound of it for years and years. I like that it is connected to nature, as a tree, which has special meaning to me; I like that Celtic legend considers it divine protection from enchantment. [name_f]Esme[/name_f] means esteemed, beloved. I just think this is a very loving name to give.

  5. [name_f]Carys[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] NN [name_f]Carrie[/name_f]
This name grew on me. At first I didn’t like it because it looked strange. But it is unusual, simple, and rather elegant. It means love. It can be nn [name_f]Carrie[/name_f]. It will have pronunciation issues in the U.S. which I will have to think carefully about. But for now it has a spot in the top five.

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f].

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] - [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] has been my favourite name since I was a little girl and I love the nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. I think the vintage [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] compliments my [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] nicely.

[name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - this name came from my love for [name_f]Mali[/name_f], which I don’t like as a full name and our last name begins for M so I’m avoiding M names. I also like the nn [name_f]Lia[/name_f] for her.

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (lehn ending)- I just love the flow of the same, I think [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is sweet and underused.

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - hubby loves [name_f]Freya[/name_f], and I do too. Not 100% on the middle name, but can’t find anything else that fits.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Leora[/name_f] - this is more of a GP since hubby thinks [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is a ‘silly’ name! [name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Leora[/name_f] not sound delightful?

  1. [name_f]Aria[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Yasmine[/name_f]
  5. [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]

first three are stable, the rest changes a lot.

  1. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] ([name_f]Flo[/name_f]) [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
  5. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]

In no particular order (I put in 6, because I cannot decide):

1.) [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f]: [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] is just the sort of name that makes me feel incredibly happy. I named my miniature belted [name_m]Galloway[/name_m] cow [name_f]Bunny[/name_f], and she made me love the name even more. It also honours my great grandmother in a vague way, because her nicknames were Badger and Ducky. [name_f]Maude[/name_f] is a beautiful name, and it also honours both my great grandmother (via the meaning) and my own mother (via the sound of her middle name). But mostly it is just because I love the names.

2.) [name_f]Nanetta[/name_f] [name_u]Yuki[/name_u] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]: [name_f]Nanetta[/name_f] honours my mum, [name_f]Ann[/name_f], and my [name_f]Nana[/name_f]. I also think the meaning (grace) is beautiful. [name_u]Yuki[/name_u] honours my great grandmother on my mother’s side, as [name_u]Yuki[/name_u] was her name. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] honours my great grandmother on my dad’s side, as her middle name was [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and she was born in [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. I love that all together, this name can mean either ‘graceful snow flower’ or ‘graceful snow flourish.’ This name also honours my Dad, as he is a horticulturalist, and snowdrops are among his favourite flowers.

3.) [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Novella[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]: I just love the name and meaning of [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], and I am a writer, so [name_f]Novella[/name_f] reflects that. [name_f]Opal[/name_f]'s were my [name_f]Nana[/name_f]'s favourite stone, and every birthday, she used to give me a small opal from her collection. So, I think it is a lovely reminder of her. She lived a very monastic life, save for her opals :).

4.) [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Henriette[/name_f]- [name_f]Frances[/name_f] honours my grandpa through the meaning, as well as every single male on that side of the family. It also honours my mother’s half sister, [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. [name_f]Henriette[/name_f] is just a wonderful name.

5.) [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Happy[/name_f]: I just adore this name, and as silly as it sounds, it honours my great grandmother in a vague way (her name was [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is the sister of [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is Despicable Me. I can’t use [name_f]Edith[/name_f], because my sister’s name is [name_u]Eden[/name_u] / [name_f]Edie[/name_f]). [name_f]Happy[/name_f] is a reminder of everything I want my children to be in life.

6.) [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]: I love both of these names (see above for the significance of [name_f]Opal[/name_f]).

[name_f]Bunny[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f], [name_f]Nanetta[/name_f] [name_u]Yuki[/name_u] [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Novella[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Henriette[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Happy[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f].

Forewarned: I suck at middle names.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] - [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
I’ve loved [name_f]Rose[/name_f] since I was a little girl, but always felt it was too nickname-y. So, hence, [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. It’s beautiful. It also incorporates two of my favourite characters (from different book series) so that’s a bonus. [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] is the name of a lady from one of my favourite series (LOTR). I’m not sure about the flow, though. Again, I really suck at middle names.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lacey[/name_f] - [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
This is a combo I’m actually quite happy with. I adore [name_f]Eve[/name_f] names. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] brings me far enough away from [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] that I’m happy with, and as a nickname for [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (which is beautiful), it just really ties it all together. [name_f]Lacey[/name_f] is frilly and cute next to the more regal [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - but I really like it. I am, however, slightly conflicted as I adore [name_f]Lacey[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], too (but I slightly prefer [name_f]Eva[/name_f] - hence the combo listed!)

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - [name_f]Annie[/name_f]
Another combo I’m extremely happy with. In my area, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is pronounced ah-nah, but I love ann-ee. So I’m just going to cut a few corners here and name her [name_f]Anna[/name_f] (ah-nah) and nickname her [name_f]Annie[/name_f] (ann-ee). It doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it’s perfect to me. [name_f]Annie[/name_f] also incorporates both of my grandmothers - as one has it as their middle name and the other as a nickname. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is longer and more queenly next to the striking to-the-point [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Not many people like this, but meh. Also, btw, regardless of popular believe, is not inspired from Frozen - I’ve loved this name beforehand.

[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] ______
I love [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]. Inspired by one of my favourite characters in a children’s movie ([name_m]How[/name_m] To Train Your Dragon), I love how strong and, well, viking it is. The character is everything I’ve ever admired in a person, so, hence the name. Also hoping my daughter would look up to her - especially if she share’s the name. It’s incredibly tough to pair with though - anything too ‘tough’ sounds like I’m trying to hard next to it, and anything ‘soft’ just doesn’t go.

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], though it is too nickname-y to me. But I love it anyway. And full names for it I don’t like ([name_f]Penelope[/name_f]) or are just too much of a stretch ([name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]) for it to come naturally. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is also a name of a main character from the first ‘adult’ book I read as a kid. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] because I think it sounds nice next [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], plus, again, the character from the movie [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] was a character I admired as a child.

These names are inspired by people who have inspired me throughout my life (whether fictional, living or dead). It may seem childish (especially since most of them are from kids movies) but honestly, these are the things that have affected me the most from my childhood. As someone who grew up in the country, I didn’t have a lot of people to look up to except the people I saw on TV or read about in books. And I just like the names in general.

I haven’t paired up all my names, but I have a top 5 for firstnames and top for the middle spot
Firsts:
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Anika[/name_f]
[name_f]Joy[/name_f]

Middles: (all have personal connections)
[name_f]Alouette[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Monet[/name_f]
[name_f]Noor[/name_f]
[name_u]Elia[/name_u]

  1. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] - Down in my signature, you can see that I have [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], as a possibility for a future daughter, but if I didn’t have to take my husband’s opinion into account – he’s not a huge fan of [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], due to a bad association – I would go straight to [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] instead. I’ve loved [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] for practically forever. I love the meaning (“life”), love that it starts with a zippy Z, and love that it sounds both spunky and elegant. [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] is a newer love, but I fell hard for it. It’s very similar in sound to [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], which was one of my very first name loves, and I like the connection to the feast of [name_f]Epiphany[/name_f], celebrating the magi visiting baby [name_m]Jesus[/name_m].

  2. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - This will be the name of our first daughter, due in [name_f]September[/name_f]. I kind of inherited my love of the name [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] from my mother, who wanted to name my little sister [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] until my father vetoed it. I think she’ll love having a granddaughter named [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] since she never got to use her favorite name herself, and I also think it’s cool that it can be shortened to [name_f]Cate[/name_f], which was my paternal grandmother’s maiden name. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] honors my husband love of [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m] (although he’s actually not a fan of the character), plus I just think it is one of the most beautiful names in the world.

  3. [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] - [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] is my confirmation name, which I chose because I love the story of St. [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]. I’m also a huge fan of “V” names, and I really like the “nic” sound at the end of the name, which shows up in several of my other favorite names ([name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] and [name_m]Dominic[/name_m]). [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] is stunning, simply stunning. I’m not sure which is prettier: [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. They’re pretty much tied for the title of “Most Beautiful Name” in my book.

  4. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] - [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is on of my favorite names to say. It just has such a fun and peppy sound. I also admire the mythological [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] for her clever mind and her fidelity. [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] is another V name I love (for a boy or a girl), and has special meaning for us because my husband and I met on [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]'s [name_u]Day[/name_u].

  5. [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] - As somebody who was named for both her grandmothers, I’m not really a fan of family names. I think it’s more special to give a child a name chosen uniquely for them, not to honor somebody else. However, with great-grandmothers with names as gorgeous as [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], it seems a shame to discount them just because they happen to be family names. Besides, Great-Grandmother [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] hated her name and preferred to be called [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], and [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] is a variation of [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], so the combo doesn’t feel quite so honoring. I just really love the names!

  1. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Liora[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] boyfriend has a clunky, short last name and it’s one of the only names that actually fits with it and makes it work. It’s classic, timeless, and won’t be spelled wrong. I do worry about its popularity, but I think [name_f]Liora[/name_f] softens it and adds three balanced meters.

  2. [name_f]Talia[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] - This was originally a GP name but somehow became much more. I love how elegant and beautiful [name_f]Talia[/name_f] looks without being frilly. I like how it gets spiced up with [name_u]Blue[/name_u] added to it.

  3. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] - This may be the equivalent of [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], but I think it’s beautiful. I don’t think I’d use it because of popularity but it combines the beauty of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] with the charm of [name_u]Avery[/name_u].

  4. [name_f]Alanna[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] nn [name_f]Lana[/name_f] - It makes me sad that this name doesn’t go well with the boyfriend’s ln, but I love how [name_f]Alanna[/name_f] looks on the page and I love the nn [name_f]Lana[/name_f]. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] just goes well with it

  5. [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] - This is one I just pieced together. [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is growing on me and I’ve always loved [name_f]Arielle[/name_f].

Hmm, I don’t have an exact five, so I’ll do the five I have combinations for off my list

[name_f]Doris[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - absolutely love the idea of meeting a little [name_f]Doris[/name_f], it reminds me of a little Victorian era girl with long curls running about in the garden, picking flowers, dreaming of fairies, playing with her dolls, having tea parties, but also loving to chase her siblings and play in the dirt a little bit too. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] sort of softens up [name_f]Doris[/name_f], but keeps the Victorian feel that I love so much.

[name_f]Martha[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] - while I love [name_f]Martha[/name_f] & [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] for sisters, I love how they sound together in a combination. I’ve always had a soft spot for both of these names, and they’re both in my top 10 first names. I’m also contemplating [name_f]Martha[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] - because I love how happy and cheery [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] sounds with [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. It helps to modernize the name, without taking it too far.

[name_f]Minnie[/name_f] [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] - [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]'s a favourite of mine, but I’ve always had a little struggle with middles. I really love the balance between [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] though - one is really cute, and the other is really rather, grown up sounding, so the two together work really nicely.

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] - [name_f]Florence[/name_f] has been one of my favourites for a long time, and I love how sweet and fresh sounding [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is in the middle spot. I also love how it rolls off the tongue, it just sounds like a perfect combination to me!

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] - one of the few double middle name combinations I have - I love how this one flows. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] seems so vintage, yet so modern to me. I adore it. I doubt I’d give [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] a nickname though, as I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] on it’s own too much.

  1. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (or [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f])
  3. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
  5. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] ____ ([name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?)
  1. [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] - Form of [name_f]Julia[/name_f] which is a family name. It has such a feminine feel and vintage quality.

  2. [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] - I love the old biblical feel and soft feminine sound of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f].

  3. [name_f]Francine[/name_f] - To me [name_f]Francine[/name_f] is the ultimate french girl’s name. Again, with a soft, feminine, vintage quality.

  4. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - Beautiful, classy and regal. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] exudes royalty.

  5. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] - Strong, yet feminine with a lot of spunk.

I hope you have five daughters  These sound like such a sweet sibset! <3

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

I’m not good with middle names, but here it goes (also probably won’t be a sibset because two names here are too similar) :
[name_f]Alberta[/name_f] [name_f]Olwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Sigrid[/name_f] Ylva
[name_f]Ragna[/name_f] [name_f]Lovise[/name_f]
[name_f]Edwina[/name_f] [name_f]Hester[/name_f]
[name_f]Abelone[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]

  1. [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Talullah[/name_f] “[name_f]Lula[/name_f]”
  4. [name_f]Liv[/name_f]/ [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] “[name_f]Liv[/name_f]”
  5. [name_u]Wren[/name_u]

[name_f]Zelie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucrezia[/name_f]
[name_u]Alix[/name_u] Sebastienne
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]

aww thank you! x
