Shamelessly stealing this idea from the wonderful @CattheBat13579 and her thread Your Favorite Name on My List?. I will list my current favorites, and I’d like you all to pick 1 girl name and 1 boy name, and quickly explain why you chose them! Thanks!
Ohhh your names are so lovely it’s hard to narrow it down. I’m gonna say [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] just because they’re calling my name today! But all so beautiful and classic
I feel like on a different day I’d give you a different answer re your girls’ list! Today I’m going for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. I’ve known some marvellous people named [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], so I have a lot of affection for it!
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m] - because I adore the nn Moth for him!
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] - really like this name, it’s not something I’d use myself but I would LOVE to see this on someone else’s child, it’s beautiful.
[name_m]Jesse[/name_m] - always loved this name (was actually the name of my first ‘proper’ crush ). The only thing that puts me off this name is that [name_f]Jessie[/name_f] is such a well known girls name & I’m not a massive fan of ‘unisex’ names.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite of the girls list is [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. I love that she feels so vintage and yet still familiar, and has the wonderful nature connection!! I think she truly is so sweet, and has some of the best nn options!!
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite name from your boys list is Timothy!! I just love how soft and timeless he feels, and he also has amazing nn options!! He feels like he could work best on a boy of any age, and he’s just so darling!!
I’m starting with boys because it’s much easier to pick for me! [name_m]Peter[/name_m], I adore him and he is on my own list (currently as a middle for [name_m]Augustine[/name_m], but I also often think about using him as a first name; if I could find a combo I liked, I probably would!). [name_m]Peter[/name_m] was my first favorite boys’ name, he’s my favorite character from the Bible, and there are many other [name_m]Peters[/name_m] in literature I have loved. [name_m]Peter[/name_m] is one of the most truly lovely boys’ names in the whole world, imo. I adore him.
I think I’m mainly between [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] (which is so lyrical and vintagey-delightful) and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (who is so earthy and vintage and I adore the nn Romy!). I slightly prefer [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] visually, but I prefer [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] for the nn potential. I suppose I could be swayed depending on the nns you would use yourself! Anything other than [name_f]Romy[/name_f], and I would probably opt for [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] (although [name_f]Susie[/name_f] does nothing for me). I’m also a massive fan of [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f], though, as they’re both meaningful family names for me. But at this point I’m just talking myself into and out of picking [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] (and Rosemary)… I don’t know that we’re getting a consensus tonight lol. I think I pick [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] over [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], but I pick [name_f]Romy[/name_f] over [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]. If that helps at all
Oh, my gosh your list is so lovely and I can’t pick just one!! You are asking the impossible of me!!
But at the end, my choices would be:
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] - it’s a form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], my all-time favorite name and forever love. It has a strong biblical meaning, which I love, as well as that timeless, classic, elegant, regal feel. I feel that this spelling is also more dainty and sweet sounding than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m] - I truly love all your other boys names, I really do. But to me [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] sounds like a strong, intelligent, and friendly boy, and I love that. It’s strong and biblical and timeless, basically everything I want in a name.
[name_f]My[/name_f] HMs would go to [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m].
For girls, I would probably choose the name [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] simply because I love the name [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but feel like it is rather short as-is. Another reason why [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is so great is the song “Love Grows.” It’s such a good song that will never be outdated…I feel the same way about this name.
As for the boys, [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] is my favorite. I don’t have much of a reason for this one except that every [name_m]Tim[/name_m] in my life has been such a calm, understanding person. For me, it’s hard to imagine not getting along with someone with this name, just because of the role models and friends I’ve had in my life named [name_m]Timothy[/name_m].
For the girls:
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - I’ve always loved it, and I love that it means “free”.
For the boys:
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m] - I don’t know why, I just like it. It’s cute, and I’ve always like the idea of [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] “Theo”.
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] - [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite spelling, which is a bonus but also because no matter how many times I see it or hear it, I still think it’s absolutely gorgeous! I forget about this name way too often unfortunately but I shouldn’t because I love it!
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m] - Feels like a sweet, cheeky, full of joy, and loving little human. One of my favorite, if not my favorite, imagery for a name and this name really is the embodiment of it. I love it!
[name_m]Loving[/name_m] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (something so soft and special about that ‘s’) & [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] isn’t my style but it sounds gorgeous. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] a close second to [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] though!
I like Jane’s sweet simplicity, and I really like a good ‘ay’ sound. It’s elegant and beautiful. And from the boys I absolutely adore [name_m]Timothy[/name_m]! It’s such a boyish, endearing name to me. It has so much positive energy and joy.
for girls, i think I’ll go with [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. I actually like [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], although it isn’t my usual style, and I like Ru and ru- names too. but my answer would be swayed if [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] went by [name_f]Romy[/name_f]!
for boys, I’ll go with [name_m]Peter[/name_m] because I generally like characters named [name_m]Peter[/name_m] (Peter [name_m]Parker[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Quill[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m] Pan)
