Your Favorite Naming Period (of the ones listed 😂)

Hi! So, on the British Baby Names blog (wow, I feel like I’m middle aged, putting articles in front of internet terms), they have lists of names by time period! They only have a few eras, but they’re still cool. So, from the link below, what period has the most names you like? It can vary between your girls’ names and your boys’ names). Also, if you wish, do the same for the other categories! Which Style, which Origin, which Theme, and the others, do you like the best? Sorry if this is confusing… it should make more sense when you see the categories on the site!

The Georgian era has the most names I like, for both boys and girls! A lot of my classic favorites ([name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], etc) showed up on multiple lists, but over all I found more of my favorites on the Georgian list than the rest.

I think I’m going to look through the other categories in the next few days- maybe I’ll find some new ideas while I’m at it!

I think I’m probably a Georgian too, although I do love some of the more uniquely medieval names on that list: [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], Godeleva, Helewise (never heard of this!), [name_f]Idony[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_u]Marion[/name_u], [name_m]Clement[/name_m], [name_m]Fulco[/name_m] (!), Warin…

Great topic! :star:

I think I’m probably Victorian…but I also love a lot of the Georgian names. There are quite a few crossovers between those two lists, and I’d say I fit somewhere in there.

@katinka
I wonder if Helewise is related to Héloïse/Eloise… :thinking:

Roman for Girls names, Victorian for boys

The most fitting is probably Georgian, although there’s plenty of crossover and none of them are quite right (especially for boys).

Also wanted to add that I saw [name_u]Philadelphia[/name_u] on one of the lists (don’t remember which) and I think I have a new name crush :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

I liked the most names on the Victorian list (boys + girls), but there were also some of my favourites on the Roaring 20’s list.

For girls I’m more so in the Victorian list and boys are the Roaring 20s, though I like a lot of boy names in the Victorian list as well
