Your favorite of these final 8 names?

Hello all,

We have whittled down the possibilities for our son due 7/1 to these 8 choices. We are practically 100% sure that he will wear one of these names…[name]Allison[/name] is our surname.

                [name]Gavin[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
                [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
                [name]Trevor[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
                [name]Seth[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
                [name]Everett[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
                [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
                [name]Nolan[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
                [name]Colin[/name] [name]Allison[/name]

These aren’t in any order of preference. We really like the Scottish/Irish sounding names, even though they end with the -n sound like our last name does. His middle name will be [name]Wilder[/name], unless we choose [name]Wilder[/name] or [name]Trevor[/name] for his first name, in which case his middle name will be [name]Cole[/name].

Thank you all in advance for your thoughts!!

I’m a fan of [name]Gavin[/name] on your list, though I think [name]Nolan[/name] would come in a close second.

As much as I like [name]Wilder[/name], I think I would avoid it as a first name with your last name. I had a friend named [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Susan[/name] and he OFTEN was miscalled [name]Susan[/name] [name]Morgan[/name]. Not only did they get the wrong name, but it was a girl’s name and he was made fun of for it. I could see the same mistake happening with your son being called [name]Allison[/name] [name]Wilder[/name]. [name]Just[/name] something to keep in mind
I think any of the others would be great! I’m particularly fond of [name]Seth[/name] and [name]Colin[/name].

My favorites from your list are:

[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Wilder[/name]
[name]Colin[/name]

My favorites:

  1. [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
  2. [name]Seth[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
  3. [name]Nolan[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]

My favourite would be [name]Seth[/name], mainly because I think [name]Seth[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] is the best combination. I also really like [name]Nolan[/name] and [name]Gavin[/name] but because of the -n endings of the first and last names it puts them at second and third in my favourites from your list

I like:

[name]Everett[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Seth[/name] [name]Allison[/name]

In that order.

I’m drawn to [name]Nolan[/name]. Agree with littleredone about the -n ending, but I love [name]Gavin[/name], too!

Your surname ends in an “n” so I don’t think a first name ending the same way is ideal (bye bye to [name]Gavin[/name], [name]Nolan[/name] and [name]Colin[/name]). All of the remaining names blend into your “A” surname but that’s not a deal-breaker.

1 [name]Seth[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
2 [name]Trevor[/name] [name]Cole[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
3 [name]Everett[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]

Have you thought about [name]Cole[/name] as a first name? I think I like that best.

  1. [name]Cole[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name], [name]Cole[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
  2. [name]Gavin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name], [name]Gavin[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
  3. [name]Colin[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name], [name]Colin[/name] [name]Anderson[/name]
  4. [name]Seth[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name], [name]Seth[/name] [name]Anderson[/name]

I really adore [name]Gavin[/name] and [name]Colin[/name], and I don’t mind the repeating -n much.

I definitely don’t care about a first and last name ending with the same letter (in fact, my daughter’s first name starts with the same letter as our last name AND ends in the same letter as our last name - and it sounds totally fine! It just depends on the names), so my vote is for either [name]Gavin[/name] or [name]Colin[/name] because I just like those names the best. I think [name]Wilder[/name] is better as a middle name.

My top 2:
[name]Seth[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Everett[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]

Reasoning:
I agree with other about the double n endings. It’s not terrible but doesnt sound as nice.
Personally dont love the repeated aah sound in [name]Gavin[/name] and [name]Allison[/name].
labelo makes a great case for avoiding simply [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name].

I like [name]Seth[/name] the best with your last name. [name]Colin[/name] is actually my favorite from your list but the N endings make it sound odd to me.

My favorites:

[name]Caleb[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Seth[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Everett[/name] [name]Allison[/name]

I like them in this order.

[name]Seth[/name] is my favorite, followed by [name]Gavin[/name]. [name]Everett[/name] is my favorite of the more unique set.

[name]Seth[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Everett[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Trevor[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Nolan[/name] [name]Allison[/name]
[name]Colin[/name] [name]Allison[/name]

[name]Seth[/name] gets my vote.

[name]Everett[/name] would be my second choice.

[name]Seth[/name]. I love [name]Seth[/name]. [name]Seth[/name] is like the mother of all my baby names.

[name]Both[/name] the first name and last name ending in N bugs me.
The one that has the best flow is [name]Trevor[/name] [name]Allison[/name]. [name]Trevor[/name] [name]Cole[/name] [name]Allison[/name] and [name]Trevor[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name] don’t really work though.
[name]Caleb[/name] [name]Allison[/name] sounds okay. I like [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Cole[/name] [name]Allison[/name] better than [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name] even though cale and cole are similar…
I agree with the poster that said that [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Allison[/name] could be reversed a lot. Too bad there are no other names on your list that end in R…

I love [name]Everett[/name] [name]Allison[/name] nn of [name]Rhett[/name] so handsome and debonair, a real winner!

I love [name]Everett[/name]
