Hello! Iâve seen a few of these threads recently and I would like to have people select their favourites from my list!
Please comment your favourite, or a few favourites from this list!
Evaluna Mathilde (Ma-teel-d pronunciation. Open to other middle names?) Dahlia Winter (Do you prefer Day-lee-ah or Dah-lee-ah? Please choose between these two, not another one!) Iris Caledonia Alaska Octavia Esther Magdalen (Magdalen or Magdalena?) Marijke EydĂs Ekaterina Helen (Helen or Helena?) Agusta SĂłlveig (Augusta or Agusta?) HaflĂna Kittiwake (Too much?) Annukka Francesca (Again⌠Too much? Would Francine be better?) Araminta Daisy (Does this feel out of place next to my other names?) Juno Elizabeth (Same as Araminta Daisy?)
I love your list! [name_f]My[/name_f] favourites would have to be [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f], and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] - Personally, I prefer the Day-lee-ah pronunciation. Both are lovely though!
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] - I think I like [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] just a little bit more than [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f].
[name_f]Agusta[/name_f] SĂłlveig - [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Ekaterina[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Helen[/name_f] for this combo.
HaflĂna [name_u]Kittiwake[/name_u] - No, itâs not too much.
[name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] - I love this combo, and I donât think that itâs too much.
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - No, itâs not out of place.
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - Again, I donât feel like itâs out of place at all.
You have such a lovely list [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] (STUNNING), [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f], and [name_f]Marijke[/name_f] [name_f]EydĂs[/name_f]!
To answer your questionsâŚ
Dah-lee-ah! Itâs the intuitive pronunciation for me but I also like the sound more. Both are pretty though!
Honestly [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] are pretty much tied for me ⌠[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] might fit better with the feminine side of your other names but I just love [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] so much âŚ
I love [name_f]Helen[/name_f] in that combo!!
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is my preferred variation but [name_f]Agusta[/name_f] feels more you (and is still very cool). [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] feels summery to me and [name_f]Agusta[/name_f] feels wintery if that means anything to you?
I donât think either of the combos you asked about are too much. Theyâre both beautiful!! In the second, I do think [name_f]Francine[/name_f] flows better but [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] feels more your style to me so I donât know ! Whatever makes your heart happiest
[name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is just absolutely stunning ! She would have to be my favourite followed by [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
Your questions:
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] - The Dah-lee-ah pronounciation is more intuitive to me and I think I like the sound just a bit better, though itâs lovely either way.
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] is better (just) because [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] sounds a little repetitive to me.
[name_f]Ekaterina[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f] - Same as above, [name_f]Helen[/name_f] is better in my opinion as it doesnât sound so repetitive.
[name_f]Agusta[/name_f] SĂłlveig - [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. No clue why, it just feels better!
HaflĂna [name_u]Kittiwake[/name_u] - Of course sheâs not too much, sheâs beautiful!
[name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] - Also not too much! I like [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] here and I think it feels closer in terms of vibes but [name_f]Francine[/name_f] would also work well.
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] + [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - Both stunning, not out of place (and I donât think it really matters if they are out of place as they are such pretty combos).
my favorites are [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] (prefer Magdalen,) [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (I think it fits very well,) and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] Caledonia!!
[name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], [name_f]Marijke[/name_f] [name_f]EydĂs[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f] are my favs! Hereâs the answers to the questions~
I prefer dah-lee-ah! Itâs also my instinctive pronunciation
I like [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] with this combo! Iâm pronouncing it mag-duh-len, I think it sounds really good with [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
Typically I like [name_f]Helena[/name_f] more but in this combo I like [name_f]Helen[/name_f] in this combo!
I like [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] more, but [name_f]Agusta[/name_f] feels more you, so [name_f]Agusta[/name_f]!
Not too much but HaflĂna makes me think of the animal Javelina (wild pig) so Iâm not into that name too much
Not too much, I think itâs super pretty!
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] doesnât feel out of place but the combo as a whole does just a bit
Same as [name_f]Araminta[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f] doesnât but the combo does just a bit
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] Magdalen!! [name_f]Marijke[/name_f] [name_f]EydĂs[/name_f] is also beautiful
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]: dah-lee-ah
[name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]: hmm I like both names, but prefer [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] near [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] or [name_f]Helena[/name_f]: I prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] but [name_f]Helen[/name_f] works nicely too
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Agusta[/name_f]: [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
HaflĂna [name_u]Kittiwake[/name_u]: nothing is too much!
[name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]: I like [name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francine[/name_f] more but this isnât too much either
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - nope, it feels like a natural match
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - no, especially [name_f]Juno[/name_f] feels pretty cohesive
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] (magical and lovely), [name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] (so cool and interesting) and [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (charming and sweet -I donât think itâs out of place)
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is nice but perhaps [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] would fit better with your list.
Some middles for [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f]: [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f], [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Sigrid[/name_f], [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f]
I prefer the Dah-lia pn [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is lovely
my favorites are evaluna mathilde, dahlia winter (either pronunciation is lovely, but my preference would be dah-lee-ah), esther magdalen (i honestly canât decide between magdalen or magdalena), araminta daisy (it feels a bit different than the others but not out of place), and juno elizabeth (which fits in very well with the rest of your names). all of your combos are lovely!
I like [name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] more so than [name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francine[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] suits better.
I like [name_f]Juno[/name_f], but I think another version of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would fit better. [name_f]Elizaveta[/name_f] comes to mind.
To be honest, the only one I donât like is [name_f]Esther[/name_f]! It just sounds musty and frumpy to me, not like the happy little blonde girl twirling through fields of wildflowers, which is how I picture your daughters. But I was struggling to pick my favorites because I liked almost all of them!
I prefer dah-lee-uh for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] because thatâs how Iâve always pronounced it. I donât understand how it could be pronounced the other way.
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] makes [name_f]Esther[/name_f] feel a smidge less fusty to me.
[name_f]Ekaterina[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f] is my favorite. I think [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is too much with [name_f]Ekaterina[/name_f].
Normally Iâd prefer [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Agusta[/name_f] SĂłlveig looks better!
HaflĂna [name_u]Kittiwake[/name_u] and [name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] are a perfect amount!
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] feel a little more ⌠English-speaking world? I think both actually fit nicely with [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]!
My favourites are Dahlia Winter (which I prefer as dah-lee-a), Iris Caledonia (!!!), Araminta Daisy & Juno Elizabeth!
Agusta I would pronounce ah-GOOS-ta (vs. Augusta which is o-GUS-ta), how do you pronounce it?
I donât necessarily think theyâre too much name, but as both are such unusual names, I find this combo lacking a âgrounding forceâ that your others have. Something a bit more familiar that anchors these names?! (Itâs difficult to describe really.)
These are not too much, but Annukka feels very Scandinavian to me while Francesca is very Italian, so, in a way, theyâre opposites to me. Francine feels a little more neutral (French names tend to be more popular than Italian names all over Europe), so the combo feels more natural as Annukka Francine to me.
My favorites are probably Esther Magdalen and Ekaterina Helen!
Totally based on sounds, I prefer Day-lee-ah. However, Dah-lee-ah is much more intuitive to me, so Iâll pick that pronunciation.
I really love Esther Magdalen; thereâs something very grounded and lovely about it, and the Biblical namesakes make it even more special. However, I adore Magdalena, and I think it would give this the romantic flair some of your other names have! Therefore, my vote goes to Esther Magdalena!
Ekaterina Helen flows very well. Do you pronounce Helena like Helen-a or Hel-lay-na? I think that might make a difference in the flow of Ekaterina Helena. I like double a middles, and they are very common in many cultures! Ultimately, I prefer Ekaterina Helena (in the knowledge that I pronounce it with a long a sound in the middle) for itâs melodic quality and because I love Helena! Ekaterina Helen is wonderfully balanced, though.
I prefer Agusta! It feels more pared down, especially with the middle. It also feels a little more your style!
HaflĂna Kittiwake is brave for me, but not necessarily for you.
I feel the same way as Polly! Both names suit you, but something that is a little more familiar in usage or sounds might tie the name in a little better with the rest of your list.
I donât think Annukka Francesca is too much. I like the double a, although Francine would flow nicely, too.
Araminta Daisy is possibly a little less evocative as some of your names, but it feels very characteristic!
I think Juno fits so well with your favorites (romantic, strong, and unusual) that Elizabeth being so common isnât a huge issue. However, I agree with @shells15 that perhaps a variation of Elizabeth might fit better.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f], [name_f]Marijke[/name_f] [name_f]Eydis[/name_f], [name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], and [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
Iâve always heard Dah-lee-ah (Iâm in US) and I prefer this pronunciation. Nb says itâs usually Day-lee-ah in [name_u]Britain[/name_u]. Not sure what the default pronunciation is in NZ.
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] - Iâm going to choose [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] works well too
[name_f]Ekaterina[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Helen[/name_f] flows better here
Unless itâs typically spelled [name_f]Agusta[/name_f] where you are, I would stick with [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
Haflina [name_u]Kittiwake[/name_u] - Haflina is new to me but I donât think itâs too much
[name_f]Annukka[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]! Not sure whatâs too much about it. Are you referring to the double n and K or that it looks too long? If it bothers you, maybe you could do Anuka (Iâm not familiar with this name so sorry if I completely butchered an original spelling) but I think itâs fine
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - love [name_f]Araminta[/name_f]! I donât think itâs out of place. Being a flower plus unusual multisyllable -a combo, I think it fits perfectly with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - These names may be a little more common than the others in this list but I still think it works with your other combos. You tend to have one unique/unusual name + one familiar in most of your combos and I think [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is unusual enough to fit in
Favourite 5 ~ Araminta Daisy, Evaluna Mathilde, Dahlia Winter, Marijke Eydis (sorry I am on my laptop and I donât know how to accent the i), and Annukka Francesca.
Answers ~ I love Mathilde and I think it works nicely with Evaluna. If I was going to suggest a different middle, it would be something French beginning with M, such as Marais, Mireille or Marielle.
I say Day-lee-ah but I slightly prefer the Dah-lee-ah PN for Dahlia.
I prefer the flow of Esther Magdalen to Esther Magdalena.
I think Helena works slightly better as a middle for Ekaterina, for both style and flow.
Agusta over Augusta.
I donât believe in âtoo muchâ when it comes to middle names! I couldnât find any information on the first name, so I am not sure if you are asking whether the two are too much meaning-wise together. Soundwise, Haflina comes across as quite understated and lovely - Iâd love to know more about it?
I prefer the lively Francesca with Annukka, even with the double a endings.
I think Araminta Daisy fits perfectly with your other choices - for feminine sounds and floral imagery. Juno Elizabeth does have a different vibe but I think thatâs fine! Juno is an awesome name and presumably the meaning is important to you? I suppose I might expect you to prefer Elisabet, but the stronger sounds in Elizabeth match so well with Juno.
While I think Juno Elizabeth works with your other combos, I want to say that after reading the other comments that altering Elizabeth to something like Elizabeta or Elisabet will help make this combo fit in more.
I actually think this applies to Marijke EydĂs too as Iâve never seen either name in the US before. After looking at the pronunciation, I listed this combo as one of my favorites anyway but yeah, if we want to âgroundâ any of the combos, I would say Marijke EydĂs would be one of the top 2 unless youâre living in one of the Scandinavian countries or the Netherlands
