Fellow name lovers: What are your first impressions of [name_f]Willa[/name_f]? My husband likes it and I love it but I don’t want a name that seems average or boring. I want a beautiful name that stands out, is not super common, is sweet and sophisticated. I need your reassurance and advice!
The other name we are considering is [name_f]Elle[/name_f] (el). Is that better than [name_f]Willa[/name_f]?
I think it’s gorgeous, and definitely both sweet and sophisticated. I think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] might be more in line with Éva and [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] if that’s a priority for you, but I do strongly prefer [name_f]Willa[/name_f].
Both those names ([name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] [name_f]Astoria[/name_f]) are gorgeous! They balance different styles very well and I think either works beautifully.
My first exposure to [name_f]Willa[/name_f] was the singer [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_m]Ford[/name_m]. I thought it was very strange. Now that I’m used to it I like it, and prefer it over [name_f]Willow[/name_f].
[name_f]Elle[/name_f] is neat too, I’m just not sure it’s “substantial” enough for me. Could work as a nickname.
To be honest I do find [name_f]Willa[/name_f] to be a bit boring. You have such lovely names in your signature, and in comparison [name_f]Willa[/name_f] doesn’t quite stand out to me at all, even though it’s uncommon. Although judging from the other responses I seem to be the only one who feels that way. It kind of strikes me as being in the same vein as other male names with “a” added onto the end: [name_f]Paula[/name_f], [name_f]Roberta[/name_f], etc. It also kind of sounds like you’re saying [name_f]Willow[/name_f] in a weird accent? Please don’t take offense, just wanted to offer a differing opinion.
I actually like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] better, oddly, especially with [name_f]Astoria[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my two cents!
