Your initial reaction to...

[name]DO[/name] NOT LOOK THIS UP FIRST!

What is your first reaction to [name]Pike[/name]? Any associations with the name/word, or just reactions to the sound of the name are helpful.

Thanks!!

I like it, but not sure if I could get used to it as a name for a person. I had a toy brontosaurus when I was little that I named [name]Pike[/name]. It also reminds me of the fish. Also reminds me of [name]Pyke[/name] from Game of Thrones.

My first thoughts are of [name]Christopher[/name] [name]Pike[/name] in [name]Star[/name] Trek (but I’m a geek like that) and [name]Pike[/name]'s [name]Peak[/name].

Made me think of [name]Pike[/name]'s Place Market in Seattle, and a pointy wooden stake.

And thinking about it a little longer, the fish and the gymnastic move…

I think of a fish. Then a cheerleading jump. Then a turnpike.

I think it could work as a name if you’re going after a rakish charm sort of thing. But I don’t find it particularly appealing.

[name]Pike[/name] - a big long stick with a a metal arrow-shaped thing at the end. Used in war by medieval peoples.

I’m not sure if that’s actually what a pike is, but that’s what came to mind.

[name]Pike[/name] makes me also think of sticks with sharp ends and blech coffee.

Reminds me of a turnpike-the highway, generally dislike the name but have heard worse.

Roadways, [name]Fish[/name], nickname-y.

Yeah, pike is definitely a stake. Not a name.

[name]Rosamund[/name] [name]Pike[/name], beautiful British actress.

My first thought was the fish, then gymnastics, then its similarity to spike, poke, and dyke. There is also [name]Pike[/name]'s peak (not a bad association), so I could sort of see it as a name, but I think overall the sound is not that appealing to me.

Instant thought was [name]Fish[/name] then a dippy character in a British sitcom.

It reminds me of a piece of highway near my home. Menno [name]Pike[/name] is the way we went home from school everyday. It also reminds me of [name]Pike[/name]'s [name]Peak[/name]!

It reminds me of the word ‘pikey,’ a derogatory term for gypsies.

The fish and the weapon also come to mind. They aren’t very nice associations.

first thought was fish then of the weapon. not very appealing for a name

Firstly it reminded me of: “What’s your name?” “[name]Don[/name]'t tell him [name]Pike[/name]!” which is a fun association if you recognise it, though it may lead to teasing.

Secondly, the derogatory term ‘pikey’.

Not good for a name in the UK.

[name]Pike[/name] makes me think of Pica. Not a name to me, sorry!

There’s a frat here called [name]Pike[/name] (I think it’s actually Pi Kappa [name]Alpha[/name]?) and I absolutely can’t stand them. They play awful music right under my dorm window and have an…unpleasant reputation.

[name]Don[/name]'t tell him, [name]Pike[/name]!
