we all have our guilty pleasures and consistent favorites, but how about those “in-between” names? those that you could see yourself using, but just feel so different from your usual style! which are yours?
i’ve got two for each - [name_m]Colin[/name_m] § [name_u]Braeden[/name_u] [name_f]Marina[/name_f] § [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
For me it would probably be [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] & [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u]. They are so traditional and classic, which is not my style at all. But I love them all the same.
[name_f]Benedicte[/name_f] + [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] for girls
and [name_m]Alastor[/name_m] + [name_m]Ichabod[/name_m] for boys
They don’t feel like they really fit right into my usual style, and I’m not head-over-heels for them at the moment. However, I think they are gorgeous, and they’re all on my lists! They feel almost too cool to use IRL? I’d melt to meet children named them.
Possibly [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - I love it but it’s more popular than my others and feels a bit different. Also [name_f]Clodagh[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Isidore[/name_m] - love them, could use them, not sure I 100% would
Most of my lists are classic names, but I do love names like [name_f]Kinsley[/name_f], [name_u]Berkeley[/name_u] and [name_u]Harlow[/name_u]! Unpopular opinions on Nameberry, yes, but they’re just so cute and summery!
Names that aren’t guilty pleasures anymore but are still a bit more out there:
[name_u]Peregrine[/name_u]
[name_u]Nightingale[/name_u]
[name_u]Meadowlark[/name_u]
[name_u]Larkspur[/name_u]
[name_u]Starling[/name_u]
[name_u]January[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]
[name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m]
[name_f]Ginger[/name_f]
Names that are just not really my usual style:
[name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_u]Dana[/name_u]
[name_f]Jessica[/name_f]
[name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Kelly[/name_u]
Of the names that are more ‘out there’ on my list, I adore [name_f]Evening[/name_f], [name_f]Stellamaris[/name_f], [name_m]Viggo[/name_m], [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u], [name_m]Arkady[/name_m], [name_f]Fairlight[/name_f], and [name_u]Hazen[/name_u].
Ones that feel out of place for me are [name_f]Willodean[/name_f], [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u], [name_f]Milou[/name_f], and… [name_m]Grover[/name_m]
Ooh, absolutely Beverly for girls. A family name, a favourite character, with a gorgeous lilting sound, but she’s so mid century. And Ethel, she’s a family name too and I love her soft vintage sound but she’s a bit too old lady next to my more mythical/literary loves!
For boys, the outliers are possibly Viggo (a bit Scandi-chic) and Albert - I adore Bertie but again, Albert is probably a bit fusty with my usual name vibes.
There’s probably an alternate universe out there where I have a little Ethel and Albert!
From my boys side would probably have to be [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] and [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] (They both feel like not my usual style but I love them anyways!!)
From my girls, [name_u]Garnet[/name_u], [name_f]Thomasine[/name_f], and [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] !! (Also feel like not my usual style, but so pretty nonetheless )
I think for girls this would be [name_u]Vision[/name_u]! I love her so much!! For boys, I’m not really sure as I don’t exactly know what my style is there, but maybe [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m]
I tend to like more modern names and the vintage revival trend usually isn’t for me. I don’t tend to like names that you could easily picture on a grandmother, for example. However, I do love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and [name_u]Julie[/name_u]! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though they really don’t “fit” with the rest of my list (they feel like they could have more of a modern, youthful feel to me though.)
For boys… I’ve kind of been crushing on [name_u]Landon[/name_u] lately? I don’t tend to like popular names at all, so it’s kind out of left field, but I’ve always liked its sound.
[name_f]Hepzibah[/name_f] is most unlike my other favourites. I tend to like classic, traditional names. Although [name_f]Hepzibah[/name_f] is an old name, I wouldn’t call it, a classic, traditional name. I would, however, consider actually using it.
I prefer classic/leader names, but my guilty pleasures would be from my [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]England[/name_u] heritage:
[name_m]Wrestling[/name_m], [name_u]Love[/name_u], [name_u]Comfort[/name_u] for boys
[name_u]Loveday[/name_u], [name_m]Constant[/name_m], [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] for girls
