What do you think of, “Adelae?” [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it? Nickname, “[name_f]Addie[/name_f].” Not naming a baby, just curious on thoughts. Thanks!
I’d pronounce it [name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-lay. Honestly, it is so close to the actual name [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] that I think it’d be better to just use [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] instead. The nickname [name_f]Addie[/name_f] would still work and you could even potentially call her Adalae if you would be attached to that name.
I would pronounce it A-duh-lye (as in eye) while I don’t think it’s bad it is really close to either [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_m]Adlai[/name_m]
[name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-lay. Similar to [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
I’d pronounce this [name_f]Ada[/name_f]-lay… I know a 5 year old with this name, but spelled Adaleigh… (ending like sleigh) which I find is a much more attractive spelling than Adelae. She also goes by the nn Addie. Anyway, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name!!! It’s beautiful!
I would not use Adalaide instead, as others have mentioned. Adalaide is nowhere near as beautiful and has an old lady feel to it. The Adaleigh I know has never had an issue with her name being mistaken for Adalaide or anything else for that matter!
[name_m]Add[/name_m]-uh-lay. I think it’s pretty, but would work better as a nickname for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
It’s very vowel-heavy. Would you use [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] instead? It’s so similar that I think she will get mistaken for it anyways.
I’d pronounce it [name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-lay. I think is so similar to [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] that you should just use [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
I’d pronounce it add-a-lay as well, and agree about [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
I’m with PP who suggested just sticking with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. (I’d prn it [name_m]Add[/name_m]-a-lay which I’d say might be a bit unfortunate!)
Otherwise I’d maybe go with Adaleigh (it looks more like a -leigh smush name - also there is something about the -lae ending that makes me think of fungi and larvae).
I also would pronounce it as [name_f]Ada[/name_f]-lay, and find that with the spelling you are using, it might often get confused for [name_f]Adele[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
I would pronounce it [name_m]Add[/name_m]-ah-lay. I think it sounds fine but looks a little odd.
[name_m]Add[/name_m]-uh-lay. Yes like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but with an open ending. I like it!
