What are your thoughts on [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]?
Sweet classics, or a bunch of names that will soon fade and be forgotten? And how do you think they sound with my other childrens names (see sig) ?
Since [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] has been names for ages, I don’t think any of them will “fade away and be forgotten”. Names from literature and history are here to stay. Each name’s popularity will ebb and flow but that’s the definition of timeless. All of them have stood the test of time and we’re still talking about them after all of these years. They can’t be pigeonholed or dated to one period. Any of the four would go well with your children’s names but I would rate them as follows:
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. It does seem a little trendy right now, and might fade in popularity, but it has a long history. I think it is my favorite with your other children’s names.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]: While this one has a history and is pretty popular on Nameberry, I have never really seen the appeal, but it’s a perfectly fine name and not super trendy. On the plus side, I don’t think it’s popular enough to sound dated in a few years.
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]: I think [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is an evergreen. There are so many nickname possibilities, but it’s an easy enough name that lots of people don’t actually shorten it. It may “fade” in that it has been really popular for a long time, and might become slightly less popular
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]: I think this is a “sweet classic.” It is probably my second favorite with your other children’s names.
I don’t think you’d go wrong with any of these names.
I think they’re all classics so I wouldn’t worry about them being forgotten. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is my favourite, especially with your other childrens names. Next it would probably be [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].
Six children and another on the way!!! Oh my gosh, I have no idea how people do it- I’m far too young for children but I can’t imagine having more than one or two when the time comes, if at all… Kudos to you!
As for these names, I agree with everyone who said they’ve been in use for long enough they won’t be forgotten. Not to mention beautiful.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]: upper-class British vibe, a name that perfectly befits a duchess or countess but also a spunky little girl. It’s prim and proper and elegant.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]: This is one of my favourite names ever (as is [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]- having both [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] in a sibset is perfect [name_f]IMO[/name_f])!!! Beautiful and feminine without being froufrou, strong and solid, and Shakespearean. Not my favourite character but she’s definitely an admirable one. I really hope you use this one!
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]: Personally I like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] better, but they’re both timeless classics. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] seems more spunky and feisty than the demure, elegant [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] to me. (And I love the Duchess of Cambridge reference either way- I’m a huge royalist)
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]: It’s sweet and pretty, but despite its history sounds more modern than your other picks.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - love love love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. Such a great literary name and ever so spunky!
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] - oh, I adore [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] as well!
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] - I’ve known so many Katherines growing up, she’s lost some of her appeal (I would say the same for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]). BUT, I will say that ([name_f]Katherine[/name_f]) [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] from Castle is one of my all time favorite characters, so that’s definitely a plus for me!
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] - I go back and forth on liking [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], but I much prefer the spelling [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] (yes, I know. the least used of the three, but [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is too abrupt and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is too drawn out.)
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is pretty, like the nn [name_f]Bea[/name_f]. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is pretty as well, love the nn [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Delia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. Dislike [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], but with a C.
