I already posted this in the girl’s forum - I hope there are not rules about posting here too - I NEVER post on these boards…but we are getting desperate!
I am obsessed with the name [name]Grace[/name]/[name]Gracie[/name] for our baby girl (due any day). But I am equally obsessed with it being too popular
Personally, we don’t know a ton of kiddos named [name]Grace[/name]…but I know it is becoming even more popular. The only variation I like is [name]Gracie[/name]. All our kids so far have red hair, so I feel like [name]Grazia[/name] or something like that would seem silly (we are decidedly NOT Italian). [name]Grace[/name] is a family name too.
No doubt [name]Grace[/name] is a popular name, but I think it’s even more popular as a middle name than as a first? I think it’s a sweet first name, and maybe if paired with a more unusual middle name it could be really interesting. If you love a name you should just go for it and not worry too much about the popularity. You may regret going for a less popular name that you don’t absolutely love.
I’m in the same boat as you! [name]Grace[/name] is on my short list, but I’m very concerned about it being too popular. I do like the previous suggestion of pairing it with a more unusual middle name, which is what we’re thinking of doing. The bottom line is if you love it, it’s a family name, and you don’t really know other kids with that name, then you should give your baby the name that you love!
I completely sympathize, since I’m going through something similar with boy’s names. I really want to use [name]Henry[/name] or [name]William[/name] for family reasons, but know a million little kids with these names. I think that if the name has special significance for you, you should go for it despite the popularity. I also don’t know any kids with the first name [name]Grace[/name], so it’s far from ubiquitous.
