Hey guys,
I’ve always loved the nn [name_m]Zel[/name_m], but [name_m]Ive[/name_m] had a hard time finding a full name for it. I stumbled upon Ysella (ee-[name_m]ZELL[/name_m]-ah) recently. It’s Cornish and means “modest”. I also love that is a Cornish name since its part of my heritage.
What are your thoughts on it? Is it usable in the west? Should I anglisize the spelling? Would [name_m]Zel[/name_m] make a good nn?
Thanks!
Ooh, I’ve never heard of Ysella, but I love it! Nickname [name_m]Zel[/name_m] is cute too
Some more ideas:
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]/[name_f]Hazelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Rozella[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosella[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelena[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelma[/name_f]
[name_f]Nazelli[/name_f]
[name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f]
Ysella’s one of the few Y names I actually like. I think it has a lovely sound, look and meaning. I’m usually inclined to keep original spellings, unless it would cause major issues, but I feel like once the pronunciation is explained, Ysella would be okay as it is (maybe :p). At least I don’t think Esella or Ezella would be quite as attractive.
Whoops, sorry about the double post. Don’t know how that happened.
Wow Ysella is stunning. I’ve never heard it before but I love it. Ysella is easy to say and The nickname [name_m]Zel[/name_m] is sweet.
I didn’t like it at first, but it’s starting to grow on me. Personally my favorite full name for nn [name_m]Zel[/name_m] is [name_f]Zelie[/name_f].
Yeah I’m worried about the spelling because I’m from [name_m]Quebec[/name_m] and the languages are [name_m]French[/name_m] and English, so the [name_m]French[/name_m] may have the hardest time pronouncing it. I was thinking of spelling it Yzella because I think everyone would tend to say “ee-SELL-ah” with the original spelling. But I agree, I want to keep the original if possible.
Ysella is gorgeous! Isella may look less made up if you’re worried about the spelling
I have a friend named [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]. When we go to Starbucks they always write [name_f]Evon[/name_f] on her cup. It doesn’t bother her. We think it’s kind of funny because [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] seems like a pretty known name. Anyways Ysella sounds beautiful no matter how you decide to spell it.
Ysella is lovely! It reminds me of another name I’ve liked for a long time, Ysarka.
I love Ysella/Isella (in my list since years) but I even prefer Iselle/Yselle or Ysée [ee-zeh].
