Yuna and Arina

What do you think of these [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] and [name_f]Arina[/name_f]? I’ve liked [name_f]Arina[/name_f] for a while, and [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] was suggested to me as a Korean inspired name. I think these names give off all sorts of vibes, from dystopian, Kpop, fantasy, or even teen drama. Which one do you favor more? What kind of story would you want to see these names in?

I like [name_f]Yuna[/name_f], it has a concise chic vibe to it, friendly vibes too. I am a sucker for A-beginning names though, so I slightly prefer [name_f]Arina[/name_f]. It sounds princessy to me and I like that nn’s could be [name_m]Ari[/name_m], Riri, [name_f]Rina[/name_f]. It reminds me of singer [name_f]Tina[/name_f] [name_f]Arena[/name_f] too!
I think [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] would be so versatile for a story, with its many cultural origins. [name_f]Arina[/name_f] could lend itself to fantasty, historical [name_f]Russia[/name_f] based on origin, or modern day YA fiction. Although I view the name positively, [name_f]Arina[/name_f] could have a mean girl vibe! [name_m]The[/name_m] ‘ree’ sound is quite harsh when PN a-REE-na which is how I’ve been saying it. Looking at the Russian PN it is softer.

Both are lovely, but I prefer [name_f]Yuna[/name_f]. Back in middle school, I had friends who were obsessed with Final [name_f]Fantasy[/name_f] franchise (Japanese RPG) -it also happened to be the first time I heard the name, so that’s my main association. I know there’s some kpop stars with this name and I can totally see it in romance genre too.

[name_f]Yuna[/name_f] sounds mystical and mysterious to me, maybe because it reminds me of ‘rune’, or ‘lunar’? [name_m]Like[/name_m] a magic user in a story or video game.

[name_f]Arina[/name_f] is so pretty, princessy but tailored which is rare!! I knew one who was Middle Eastern. I suppose it’s quite international. It also reminds me of [name_f]Alina[/name_f] which is the heroine’s name in the [name_m]Grisha[/name_m] series by [name_f]Leigh[/name_f] Bardugo (Russian inspired).
