[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there, recently came across the name [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] and thought it sounded really pretty. I am not [name_u]French[/name_u] though. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have to be [name_u]French[/name_u] to use this name?

I’ve always liked [name_f]Yvette[/name_f]. It reminds me of the actress [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] Mimieux, who was so pretty. Plus, there aren’t many names that begin with Y.
Yvette is familiar outside of [name_f]France[/name_f] so I don’t think you have to be [name_u]French[/name_u] to use it. I did a Google search and found plenty of examples of women named [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] who aren’t [name_u]French[/name_u].

Yvette is unexpected vintage choice definitely do not need to be [name_u]French[/name_u] to use
Yvette feels quite universal:)
Firstly, you don’t need to be a certain nationality to use a name because if that was the case there would be a tiny naming pool, different countries take names and make them their own all throughout history.
Yvette is a such a charming name and definitely in need of being rediscovered as I find it to be super chic.
No.
Any more than you have to be Jewish to use [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] or Irish to use [name_u]Niall[/name_u].
Yvette is a pretty name.
