[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]/[name_m]Zach[/name_m]!! A refreshing change to the ever-popular [name_m]Jack[/name_m], and I also just live the way [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] just tolls off the tongue. Plus is fun to say :). Only downfall I see is that it might be one of those names that is forever shortened to 95% [name_m]Zach[/name_m] & 5% [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], so you really gave to be in love with the short form. I also love nn Zachy when they’re little.
No, I don’t think it’s too popular. GL.
I love this name! I know a ton of [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]'s my age (early 20’s), but I don’t hear of anyone naming their kids this name anymore. I don’t think it’s too popular at all.
Personally, I prefer any other form of the name rather than [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] itself. [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is kind of harsh sounding to my ears and it reminds me of the alcohol beverage daiquiri. However, I do love [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m], [name_m]Zacharias[/name_m] etc… I wouldn’t call [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] “preppy”. It’s more boyish, spunky and friendly. So, there were 161 Zacharys born in your state and it’s No#81…so how many babies were given the No# 1 name and how many babies were born in total in your state? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know any [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]'s where you live? I think comparing [name_m]Zach[/name_m]'s stats with the answers to those three questions may put things in perspective as far as popularity is concerned. If you live in a more populated state, it may not be an issue. If you live in a sparsely populated state, you may run into more [name_m]Zach[/name_m]'s than you would like to.
I think [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is a fine enough name. It’s not really my style, as I know a lot of people my own age (late teens-early 20’s) with the name, but its a nice name nonetheless. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, it just feels a little plain to me. That being said, I think it would make a fresh choice on a baby, and I don’t think number 81 is too popular. I’m actually kind of surprised it’s that popular, I rarely hear it on young kids anymore. I definitely don’t think it’s preppy at all, however. All the [name_m]Zach[/name_m]'s/[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]'s I’ve known have been outdoorsy and adventurous.
I like the name and love nn [name_m]Zach[/name_m], but I will forever link the name with a certain Saved by the [name_u]Bell[/name_u] character.
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m] isn’t really my style and it does feel kind of 90s to me. It’s a fine name though. I love “Z” names.
I like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] and love NN [name_m]Zach[/name_m].
I don’t think of [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] as all that preppy? I like that it ends with a soft friendly -y, but not in a NN-ish way. [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], [name_m]Malachy[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], etc. all appeal to me. It’s not particularly trendy either. It’s just a good solid name.
I’m admittedly also quite fond of Z’s in general.
I like [name_m]Zane[/name_m] - a bit trendy, but good.
[name_m]Zacharias[/name_m]/[name_m]Zacarias[/name_m] - Clunky for most people. A good way to get [name_m]Zac[/name_m]/[name_m]Zach[/name_m] without #81. Slightly prefer it to [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m].
[name_m]Zebulon[/name_m]/[name_m]Zevulon[/name_m] - Well, I like [name_m]Zeb[/name_m] and [name_m]Zev[/name_m], and it is Biblical, but most people don’t like this. It’s obscure, though not unused.
[name_m]Zeke[/name_m] - but the ways to [name_m]Zeke[/name_m] I like best are [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] and [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m], which aren’t Z’s. And are clunky. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are in the Top Thousand though so they’re not as oddball as some of my other likes, but not as “safe” (comparatively) as [name_m]Zachary[/name_m].
Hmmm. I knew one [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], nn [name_m]Zach[/name_m], who was exceptionally preppy (polo shirts and all), so that’s how I think of the name. It’s a name I haven’t heard for a while…the youngest ones I know are in high school. [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] seems to be its trendy replacement.
On a separate note, I’ve recently discovered the name [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] (possible nn [name_m]Zeke[/name_m]) which is along [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]'s lines.
