Zander or Xander

Which do you prefer? I’m drawn to Zander but Xander is more obviously related to Alexander which I like but wouldn’t use to avoid the nickname Alex. (Alex is great but also an ex so no lol) Maybe Xander is better as a nickname for Alexander but Zander is better for a given name?

I think both are fine as either a nickname or a full name, but I’m inclined to agree with you that I prefer [name_m]Zander[/name_m] as a full name and [name_m]Xander[/name_m] as a nickname. [name_m]Zander[/name_m] as a full name distinguishes it a bit more from [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and doesn’t look like the name was chopped in half - it seems more like it stands on its own. Whereas [name_m]Xander[/name_m] as a nickname makes more sense because it’s chopped in half - [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] doesn’t have a Z, so why switch the letters around for a nickname? Ultimately, though, I think either spelling works in either situation, but those are my personal preferences and how I look at them.

i knew someone who was alexander but who always used xander as their first name (signed it to everything, wrote it on papers in school, etc.) so i feel like it works either way!
