What are your opinions on these names? They are 3 new ones I’ve added to my girls list.
[name]Zara[/name] - pronounced Zarr-uh. SO cool in my opinion. Very exotic to my ears, but can you see it on a little white girl? There is also the clothing store with this name where I live (but they sell very nice clothes haha).
[name]Linnea[/name] - Gorgeous and uncommon too, and I love how it connects to my Scandinavian heritage. I’d be concerned with people pronouncing it [name]Lin[/name]-ee-uh or thinking that I “made it up” though.
[name]Sylvie[/name] - I think it’s a lot cuter/more fresh than [name]Sylvia[/name], which I find kind of dated since I knew an older woman named [name]Sylvia[/name].
I like [name]Zara[/name] a lot. [name]Linnea[/name] is okay but I always pronounced it lin-ee-uh but I see it’s suppose to be lin-ay-uh…hmm. [name]Sylvie[/name] is just a nickname to me and [name]Sylvia[/name] is very pretty. I like [name]Sylvie[/name] as a nn for [name]Silvana[/name].
I like all three names! I’d say that [name]Sylvie[/name] is my favorite, followed by [name]Linnea[/name] (I always forget how much I like [name]Linnea[/name] until someone mentions it!) and then [name]Zara[/name].
For your concern about a “little white girl” named [name]Zara[/name], you don’t have to look any further than the British [name]Royal[/name] Family - [name]Princess[/name] [name]Anne[/name]'s daughter is named [name]Zara[/name].
Combos: I’ve been really loving [name]Joyce[/name] as a middle name lately, and I think [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Joyce[/name] sounds gorgeous. [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or the previous suggestion of [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Iris[/name] would be fabulous. As for [name]Zara[/name], how about [name]Zara[/name] [name]Helene[/name]?
I love the name [name]Linnea[/name]! It’s gorgeous!
[name]Zara[/name] is pretty cool as well.
[name]Sylvie[/name] is alright. It seems like a popular choice on Nameberry.
I love [name]Linnea[/name]. It’s at the top of my list right now if this little one turns out to be a girl.
[name]Zara[/name] is cool, but I wonder if pronunciation would be an issue. Zehr-a or Zhar-a? Although personally that wouldn’t stop me from using it. I totally think it’s usable and not too exotic.
I really like [name]Sylvie[/name] too. It was in the running for my older daughter’s name but we ended up going with [name]Sylvan[/name] instead. I always figured [name]Sylvie[/name] would be her nickname but at almost 3 we havn’t used it yet. Maybe as she gets older though!
I really, really like [name]Zara[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name]. [name]Sylvie[/name] not so much. I first heard [name]Zara[/name] while shopping in Europe and thought it was such a cool name. I went to school with a girl named [name]Linnea[/name], and once she told people how to pronounce it, there weren’t any issues. I would use either name, but my husband vetoed both of them =(. You really can’t go wrong with either. I also wouldn’t worry about using [name]Zara[/name] because exotic names are becoming more common. Good luck!!
I have to say, I love [name]Sylvie[/name]! I like [name]Sylvia[/name], too…I know most people think it’s dated, but it has a youthful fresh feeling to me, probably because I don’t know any older Sylvias. To my mind [name]Sylvie[/name] conjures up the image of a sweet little innocent girl. ([name]Tasha[/name] [name]Tudor[/name] wrote a book about a [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Ann[/name] - very sweet children’s Halloween story.)
I like [name]Zara[/name], it means to blossom in Arabic so that is very nice. By the way, [name]Zara[/name] is a fairly common name in the UK so I wouldnt really about a white baby having this name I like [name]Linnea[/name] too. [name]Sylvie[/name] I like the least but its nice
I love all three names. [name]Sylvie[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name] are my favourites.
MN suggestions:
[name]Zara[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Zara[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Zara[/name] [name]Annalise[/name]
Well, I’m Swedish and the proper pronunciation of [name]Linnea[/name] in Swedish would be [name]Lin[/name]-ee-uh:) I like [name]Linn[/name]éa and I like [name]Sylvie[/name], but I like [name]Lydia[/name] even more. [name]How[/name] about [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] or [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Rose[/name]?
I love them all! [name]Zara[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name] are my favorites, but I think all three are stunning, and would actually love to see sisters with the names.
I looove the name [name]Linnea[/name] but I know what you mean about the [name]Linnea[/name] pronunciation. I had a Swedish/American friend called [name]Linnea[/name] (lin-ay-uh) and my dad would always make comments about linear rules. So ANNOYING!!
I live in the Midwest and I know at least 7 [name]Linnea[/name]'s of all ages. No one has ever had pronunciation issues. The name is great and ages really well. Because its such a historical Scandinavian name, I think it feels the most classic, even though it is unusual outside the Midwest.
That being said, I like sylvie the most. It’s adorable!
I like all three, but [name]Linnea[/name] is my favorite. I am kinda biased though because it is very similar to my middle name L’Nae. I think [name]Linnea[/name] is where my parents got the idea, they just didn’t know how to spell it They had friends who were living in [name]Scotland[/name] at the time and they came to visit and brought pictures of a [name]Loch[/name] [name]Linnea[/name] (?? not sure still if this is the right spelling, but it’s the closest I could figure out). Anyway, my parents thought the [name]Loch[/name] and the name were so pretty that they used it for my middle name and just spelled it like they thought it sounded. [name]Zara[/name] is pretty and a little exotic without being unrecognizable which is nice. I like [name]Sylvie[/name] too, though I can never choose between [name]Sylvia[/name] nn [name]Sylvie[/name], or just [name]Sylvie[/name]. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those
