Zelda or Sylvie?

We are stuck between these two names. [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]? Please help us out!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], I feel like it so refreshing and so zippy, I know a [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] as well who is adorable.

I also love [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. Both names are adorable, but [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] has more spark!

I vote [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]—I agree that it has more of a presence/spark than [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. I also think it ages very gracefully and works equally well on a child and an adult; [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Williams[/name_m]’ daughter [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is a good example.

[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is pretty, bold, energetic, and ([name_f]IMO[/name_f]) a great midpoint between [name_m]Milo[/name_m] and [name_f]Viola[/name_f]!

[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]!!! [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]…

I personally much prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] 100%!

Difficult one. I really like both. [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is cool, feisty, and unusual, but [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is fun, energetic, and a little sophisticated too. I do technically have [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] on my list though (and not [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] right now), and I think she goes best with your children’s names.

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is cute. I’ve never been able to get behind [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] - it just reminds me of the video game character (and I’m not a video game person at all).

I adore both, but [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] has more power in it in my opinion.

prefer [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]

Oo seconding this! I think I vote for [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]!

I vote [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] ”

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] by far, for me.

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] by far for me. Seems classier. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is a stylish choice. [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] sounds like a too full-on wild character to me.

In general I strongly prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], which sounds more sophisticated to me. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] just sounds like a nickname in my opinion. So between [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], I’d vote [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. But between [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Zelda[/name_f].

Wow, these are both great names.

[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is zesty and wild and audacious.

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is zesty too, though in a more [name_m]French[/name_m] way. A little quieter and cuter a name.

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know if nicknames matter? Probably both would just be shortened by loved ones to [name_m]Zel[/name_m] or Syl anyway.

While I think both are wonderful, if I had to pick, I’d go with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] reminds me so strongly of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] (I teach high school English, including [name_m]Gatsby[/name_m]) that I might prefer the more blank slate (to me) of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].

Of course how they sound with my last name would help decide it too.

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]

I much prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. It’s so beautiful.

Without a doubt it has to be [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]!

They’re both lovely.

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is gentle and melodious, while [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is powerful (but still undeniably feminine). Both age well.
The next bit is overanalytical, and please feel free to ignore it. I’m just disecting things a bit because you’re having trouble choosing. Really, both names are lovely.

I like that [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] has a different ending from your other children’s names (so it doesn’t match [name_f]Viola[/name_f] more than [name_m]Milo[/name_m]). On the other hand, it does have a strong V sound like [name_f]Viola[/name_f]. I like that she shares a nature theme with [name_f]Viola[/name_f], but I wonder if that leaves [name_m]Milo[/name_m] out a little (I wouldn’t normally worry about it - it is easier to create a theme among names for children of the same sex, after all, but I’m aware that it’s important to you to have a name feels unifying).

With [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], all 3 children would have a distinctive sound in their name (O for [name_m]Milo[/name_m], V for [name_f]Viola[/name_f] and Z for [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. [name_f]Viola[/name_f] has a strong O sound too, which is a nice link between her and [name_m]Milo[/name_m]), but she would share an ending with [name_f]Viola[/name_f].

All in all, I’m edging slightly more toward [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] - it’s slightly less connected to [name_f]Viola[/name_f] (for me). There are also quite a few historical namesakes if you’re still interested in that.
If you’re planning to use the middles in your signature, it would be a shame to lose [name_f]Angelou[/name_f], but [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is lovely and the C middle links it to [name_m]Milo[/name_m]'s middle. And [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] can be a colour word, like [name_u]Blue[/name_u].

So, [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] has it by a whisker for me. But if you like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] more, go for it - the children will all have names with distinctive endings, they all work together stylistically, and I don’t really think [name_m]Milo[/name_m] will be offended if his sisters’ names are closer to one another than to his (after all, they’re girls’ names).

Good luck - whichever you choose will be wonderful.
