Zelda

Ok, so I’m not pregnant yet, but my husband is obsessed with the name [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] if we have a girl. We already have 2 boys, so I’m leaning towards the “if I finally get my girl I’m picking her name!” route, but I’m not 100% sure my feelings on [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. He likes it for the video game. I do like it for the vintage flavor, [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m], the initial Z, and the witch. I don’t hate it, so I feel like I should give it real consideration. It’s never been on my always long list of favorites, and definitely not my short list. But it is kinda cute and quirky and it checks off most of the boxes for things I look for in names. I’ve always planned on naming a daughter Lulette after my great grandmother, but I’ve also loved [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] for years. Currently my favorite is [name_f]Roxanna[/name_f], called [name_f]Roxie[/name_f]. I really like spunky nicknames and I’m afraid [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] doesn’t have that. I was thinking Z, or maybe [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]… any thoughts?

I absolutely love [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]! I’ve always liked it, but recently I’ve been drawn to it, and have had an ongoing crush for a while. It’s so short, but feisty, quirky, and adventurous. I love the meaning too.

I don’t really think [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] needs a nn being so short, but [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] is cute. Maybe you could get it from her middle name? Or [name_f]Zella[/name_f], [name_u]Del[/name_u], [name_f]Zea[/name_f] ([name_u]Zia[/name_u]) perhaps?

I actually think all the options you mentioned are wonderful. I’ve never heard Lulette before, but it’s lovely, and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] are firm favourites, even as a sibset or in a combo. [name_f]Roxanna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Roxie[/name_f] is so cool!

Thanks for the reply! I’m glad to hear someone with my style likes it, lol. I know [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] doesn’t need a nickname, but I like nicknames, particularly for girls. I just love those cutesy vaguely [name_m]French[/name_m], vintage nicknames. I was thinking of doing something with the initials, or maybe a double-name. I’m limited in that I want to use family names in the middle, but I do have a lot of options. We use two middle names, but the second would likely be a surname from my family tree, maybe. I don’t know. I have a lot of options.

[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] Lulette ([name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Lu[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]

It’s not the cutest, but [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is my beloved grandmother as well as my mother’s middle name. I’d really like to use it. It’s just occurring to me that [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] could easily be [name_f]Zaza[/name_f], which is pretty cute.

What about [name_u]Zola[/name_u]? [name_f]Zenia[/name_f]? Zyla?

I love [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]! I think the two names balance each other really well and it would be a sweet connection. [name_f]Zaza[/name_f] is great. It gets my vote!
