Zenith?

I discovered this name about a week ago and I’m sort of intrigued by it. I’m a rock climber and Zenith means “highest point”, so I thought it kind of fit. So far, I haven’t found any downsides to it. I’m just wondering if it seems too… Out there?
I love the cool whispering sound to it as well, I’m just unsure of the gender I would use it for.

So, what to you think?
Is it too weird?
Would it be for a boy or a girl?
Any other suggestions for names if this one is too weird?

Thanks fellow berries!

I can see it working for either gender - I think I’d prefer it for a girl, since the [name_f]Zee[/name_f] sound is a little cutesy & the -ith reminds me of [name_f]Edith[/name_f] & [name_f]Judith[/name_f] etc. I love the meaning of it. And nn [name_f]Zee[/name_f]? [name_f]Hella[/name_f] cute.

I definitely don’t think so it’s too out there.

Zenith was a very popular TV and electronic brand. While the connection is cool and z names are popular, I would have to pass on the this one.

I picture it’s on a boy… definitely not too out there and I love the connection it has for you to rock climbing!

To me it sounds too trying-too-hard to be unique since it’s a word name and begins with Z. But that’s just my impression. I see that you like [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], which I think has some similarity but is much more melodic. I think Zenith is better suited to a girl, because the -ith echoes other feminine names like [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], and Zeenie could be a cute nickname. I guess you could use [name_f]Nettie[/name_f] too, and [name_f]Zee[/name_f] could fit any gender.

All I can picture is a clunky television set. Sorry! I do think it leans towards masculine.

I considered it for a boy at one point (I really prefer it for a boy) with the nickname [name_u]Zen[/name_u], which I love. In the end I decided not to, because I’m not brave enough, and because it might be a bit hard for someone like a lawyer or a doctor to carry. It sounds more surfer-guy to me. As a middle name, that wouldn’t bother me though. [name_m]Even[/name_m] as a first name it’s probably not a big deal, and if you like it, thumbs up!

One caveat: if you have a super common surname, you might want to take that into consideration. Zenith Saunier, for example, sounds cooler than Zenith [name_m]Smith[/name_m] or Zenith [name_m]Brown[/name_m].

I think in 20 years it will be the coolest thing going… but right now there are too many of us who remember Zenith TV’s. It was THE brand in the 70’s and 80’s. I think we bought ours at Zody’s so theres another Z name shot all to heck, lol.

Let’s be old together, 'kay?

Zenith is too much like the company for me. I agree with the other poster who said it would probably work in 20 years but yeah, right now it’s still too tied to the TVs.

Yup, another Zenith TV association here too.

Could you put it in the middle spot? There it would freshen up a more traditional first. We have friends who used just ‘[name_u]Zen[/name_u]’ for their little boy’s mn a few years ago and it was unexpected yet interesting. (Plus has a meaning for them as they bought a house previously used as a Buddhist monastery.)

[name_f]My[/name_f] friends daughters almost name was Zenith. But she turned out to be a [name_m]Zailey[/name_m]. I like it, but the TV turned me off.

I really like it (and was pondering it a few weeks ago), but there’s the trouble of what to name a second child. What comes next after the highest point? Eclipse? (I only say this in half-jest because a brother named Zenith with a little sister named Eclipse seems super awesome.
