Ziggy....could this work?

I’ve long loved [name]Ziggy[/name] but its not substantial enough for me to consider as a name in itself and I’m not wild about any fn that gives nn ziggy intutively! However [name]Finnegan[/name] a family name that I really want use either in fn or mn spot… is a fairly intuitive way to get [name]Iggy[/name] [name]IMO[/name]. So then I thought about using [name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Finnegan[/name] nn [name]Ziggy[/name] as [name]Zephyr[/name] is a name we both love and funnily enough I had all but axed it previously as I couldn’t find a nn I loved for it!

So berries thoughts on [name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Finnegan[/name] nn ziggy? Does it work as a way to get [name]Ziggy[/name]? Does it sound a bit too much? [name]Do[/name] the two names sound slighly odd paired together? What are your honest opinions?..also Can you think of any other names that we could use with [name]Finnegan[/name] to get [name]Ziggy[/name]…We do both like [name]Alexander[/name] too and while I had thought it was a bit predictable initially if we used [name]Ziggy[/name] ([name]Alexander[/name] [name]Finnegan[/name]) I think it would make it jazzy enough for me! Is that even more of a stretch or could that work too?

[name]Zephyr[/name] is such a great name that I wouldn’t hide it with a nn

The real name doesn’t have to have anything to do with [name]Ziggy[/name]. The only real life [name]Ziggy[/name] I know of is [name]Ziggy[/name] [name]Marley[/name] and his name is [name]David[/name]. You could also get [name]Ziggy[/name] from [name]Isaac[/name]

I liked [name]Ziggy[/name] to and named my son [name]Isaac[/name] [name]Edward[/name]… [name]Isaac[/name] E sounds like [name]Ziggy[/name]. His sister ended up calling him [name]Izzy[/name] though and that is what stuck for now

Now [name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Finnegan[/name] nn [name]Ziggy[/name] is one super awesome name! Yes!

You could also do
[name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Grant[/name]
[name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Ignatius[/name]
…to get to [name]Ziggy[/name].

Or just use [name]Ignatius[/name] nn [name]Ziggy[/name]. That makes perfect sense to me.

[name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Finnegan[/name] nn [name]Ziggy[/name] seems contrived and a bit of a stretch to me. I’d sooner see [name]Ziggy[/name] as a nickname unrelated to the given name, as [name]Ziggy[/name] [name]Marley[/name] did.

I agree with most that [name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Finnegan[/name] nn [name]Ziggy[/name] feels like the name is working too hard to achieve the nn you wanted. I would go with a name you generally love and call him [name]Ziggy[/name] as a pet name. Lots of people have nicknames unrelated to their given names, so it’d be fine. Plus as a name lover, you get to pick a first and middle you love AND use your fave nn. Wins all around.

Zephyr Finnegan is a pretty cool names–surprising me, because it’s not my style at all. But I find they really work together.

I agree with others, though: don’t pick it as a way to get to Ziggy. Pick it only if you love it on its merits. You can name him anything and call him Ziggy anyway.

Still, I would be sure to imagine a scenario in which he decides he no longer wants to be called Ziggy, for whatever reason, at whatever age: the fallback name will be his given name. Be sure it’s one that you like and think will suit your boy then.

In that case, Zephyr and Alexander have very different vibes. Which do you prefer?

It’s a great name.

Wow pretty mixed responses…but all helpful… Thanks for the feedback! The thing is [name]Zephyr[/name] is a name we love anyway and [name]Finnegan[/name] a meaningful family name… But i certainly wouldnt have considered them in combination if [name]Ziggy[/name]’ wasn’t a factor! i guess my concern was that together they may sound a bit much and that whole combo with [name]Ziggy[/name] as a nn may sound as some have pointed out a little contrived or forced! Anyone else got any thoughts?.. You can be as honest as you want!

My daughter’s name is [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m]. Her nickname is Chicken. I honestly don’t think names and nicknames need to corelate in any way. Name your child what you WANT to name them. And call them whatever name you want to call them.
