Zinaida: thoughts and first impressions?

It is a Russian name, derived from “Zenais” meaning “of [name_m]Zeus[/name_m]”. Does it sound nice? Is it easily pronounceable? First impressions?

Pronounced “Zeh-NAY-duh”

Thanks! (Btw, not for a real kid, just a book character)

I like it. I thought it was pronounced “Zin-AY-duh” when I first looked at it, but that pronunciation isn’t difficult at all. It might not have worked so well for a person, but for a fictional character its wonderful, I really like it.

It’s great. Classy and exotic. I like [name_f]Zuleika[/name_f] and Zosima too.

I like it a lot. Very pretty & unusual.

I would also have said Zin-ay-dah not [name_u]Zen[/name_u]-ay-dah. But I do think the name is an excellent one for a book character, you could spell it [name_f]Zenaida[/name_f] if you wanted to get that exact pronunciation, or leave it as [name_f]Zinaida[/name_f] if you don’t really mind.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! It is actually pronounced zee-nuh-ee-duh. [name_u]Love[/name_u] Zénaïde as well! And the Spanish [name_f]Zenaida[/name_f] (zeh-ny-duh). Really gorgeous, has a certain cool factor, if you ask me (;

I’ve seen multiple pronunciations for it, but each one makes sense to me, once told how someone pronounced it then it should be easy to remember. My first thought is the Russian painter, [name_f]Zinaida[/name_f] Serebriakova. I really like the name, though [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] is a little easier to pronounce and means “life of [name_m]Zeus[/name_m]”

Not a fan and I love Russian names.
