Which one do you think is better?
I’m not fond of either, to be honest. [name]Sephora[/name] is a pretty well known makeup store here and [name]Zipporah[/name] isn’t exactly appealing to me. I would choose [name]Zipporah[/name] because it at least has history to it.
Agreed. [name]Sephora[/name] is the make-up store and with [name]Zipporah[/name] all I can think of are zippers - looks totally made up.
Neither. [name]Sephora[/name] = make-up. And [name]Zipporah[/name] sounds like a version of Ziplock bags… sorry.
I think [name]Zipporah[/name] is one of the most beautiful names. I love it and would have it on my list, but I know a little [name]Zipporah[/name], and she goes by Zippy. I do like [name]Sephora[/name], too, but yeah, the makeup thing is a downer. I like your taste in names, by the way. [name]Thisbe[/name], [name]Rapunzel[/name], [name]Wolfgang[/name]… how fun.
[name]Zipporah[/name] by far. We have a [name]Zipporah[/name] nn Zippy at the daycare. She’s super cute, super fun, and everyone adores her. We call her Zippy pretty much exclusively.
[name]Sephora[/name]'s far too make-up-brand to choose over [name]Zipporah[/name].
[name]Zipporah[/name] was actually the wife of [name]Moses[/name].
Also, I just wanted to add that I really like the names in your signature @beeba.
I prefer [name]Zipporah[/name].
I love biblical names, so I’m a fan of both forms of this name. I find [name]Sephora[/name] more pleasing to the ear, though they are both lovely. I don’t think of a makeup store as a negative connotation for a name. They name is associated with beauty products… not really a bad thing for a girl’s name. If it was a boy’s name that might be a negative. Or if the store was trashy, I could see the problem. So, I guess what I’m saying is… I’d love to meet a little [name]Sephora[/name]!
I like Zipphorah much more, it’s a stunning Biblical name and I think I would love meeting a little girl with that name, plus Zippy is a pretty neat nickname imo. [name]Sephora[/name] while pleasant to the eye and ear has the make-up company ruining it as a name for a person.
Thanks guys for your opinions, and thanks for the compliments on my naming tastes
[name]Zipporah[/name] isn’t a made-up name, guys! It’s the Hebrew version of [name]Sephora[/name]—[name]Zipporah[/name] is how [name]Sephora[/name] is pronounced in the Torah (Jewish Bible). Although it isn’t my style, I very much prefer [name]Zipporah[/name], and Zippy is just such a cute childhood nickname.
Um…guys…[name]Zipporah[/name] isn’t a made-up name. She was the wife of [name]Moses[/name], and it’s the Hebrew version of [name]Sephora[/name]. [name]Sephora[/name] is [name]WAY[/name] too linked to the makeup store, in my opinion, and I think that’s kinda frivolous…wouldn’t you rather the name have a biblical reference rather than a reference to the mall? [name]Just[/name] my opinion. Plus, Zippy is a really cool and cute childhood nickname!
[name]Sephora[/name]!
If I were allowed to tweak, I’d make it in to Sefora/ Séfora. I [name]LOVE[/name] the sound of Séfora in Spanish (like SEH-fo-ra), or Anglicized from that (SEF-uh-ra). It gets away from the “[name]Sephora[/name]-like-the-makeup-store?” too.
Yep, this. I also like [name]Tzipora[/name] as a spelling
Or you might try [name]Zephyra[/name]
[name]Zipporah[/name] or Zipphorah for sure. [name]Sephora[/name] sounds prettier to my ear, but the association to the make up store is too strong…Maybelene is pretty too but I would just never do that! [name]Zipporah[/name] is a bit out-there but why not?! It’s very Zippy & fun. I think it fits right in with [name]Zuzu[/name] & [name]Zosia[/name] which people seem to like, if not use!
[name]Zipporah[/name] is a gorgeous name. I prefer the nn [name]Zorah[/name]
I much prefer Tzipporah or [name]Tzipora[/name] to [name]Zipporah[/name]. If you’re going to go with the Hebrew spelling, might as well get the Tz- sound in there.
I like Tzipporah a lot. [name]Zipporah[/name] is more meh to me. And I don’t like Zippy at all.
[name]Sephora[/name]/Cephora is an alternate translation of the same Biblical personage. [name]Don[/name]'t see the makeup brand as a huge dealbreaker. It was a name first. I’ve seen Estée used on babies and that has less history to it. I don’t recommend Maybelline though.
