Hey berries,
I’ve been taking a break from the name search, just getting so frustrated with the whole thing. But my mum is watching our favorite show- [name_u]West[/name_u] [name_m]Wing[/name_m], and suggested [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] to me. I told her I liked it but didn’t think dh did, but to my surprise he does. Neither of us are like, OMG that’s THE name!! But it’s a name we both enjoy and my mom likes it (which is VERY unusual, lol!)
I see that it’s in the top 50, which is more popular than I’d prefer, but my dd’s name, [name_f]Isla[/name_f], is in the top 100 in [name_m]Vermont[/name_m] and I know at least 3 others in a 20mile radius. I don’t know a single [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] except a niece of a friend in TX. So I’m not terribly worried about the popularity aspect. I’ve heard it’s quite an old name, showing up in the 1800’s also, so that helps.
I’m more curious/concerned about how it matches up with our sibset? It’s a little more spunky than [name_f]Isla[/name_f] probably, but my [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is a super spunky little kid so I think it helps balance her name out a bit, if that makes sense.
Be honest, we have plenty of time to keep looking if need be:)
Thnks!
I really like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] with your sibset. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] doesnt have the best flow but if you want to honour your late sister - which is lovely - then I think the best way to do that is with [name_f]Emma[/name_f], not a variation (just my opinion).
[name_m]How[/name_m] about something extra in the middle to help the flow?
I think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is absolutely perfect with [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m], and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is lovely. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] is another option.
I love the name [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and even though it is supposedly popular, I have only heard of one baby named [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] in my area, the granddaughter of a woman I work with. I think it is wonderful in your sibset. I love [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], but I’m a bit biased as it is my favorite name. When I read that you wanted to honor an [name_f]Emma[/name_f], I immediately thought of [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], which others have suggested. I also like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].
I hope that helped! Congrats and good luck!
I think that [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is a great name and that it works really, really well with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. However, I agree with pp that it may require something else after [name_f]Emma[/name_f] to keep the balance, or an elongated version of [name_f]Emma[/name_f] if you’re happy to alter your late sister’s name somewhat. For me, the repeated ‘z’ in [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is really pretty and punchy at the same time. [name_f]Zara[/name_f] may be another ‘Z’ name you could consider?
I actually mooted [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] as a name for us because my love of C.J. Cregg runs so deep! It was promptly vetoed…
I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is a sweet sibset! Sure, it’s not perfect, but it works well enough, and once [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is like, 20, her sibset won’t matter so much, because most of her friends won’t know her siblings. I second the [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] works too!
