I would definitely pronounce [name]Zoe[/name] as [name]Zo[/name]-ey, it is my favorite spelling of the name. I do not think it is trendy, I like it.
If you want someone to pronounce [name]Zoe[/name] as zoh, it’s not going to happen 99% of the time. “zoh” is not even listed on Behind the Name as a pronunciation (Meaning, origin and history of the name Zoe - Behind the Name). [name]Just[/name] FYI. [name]Zoe[/name] is my preferred spelling, though I do also like [name]Zoey[/name]. PLEASE do not spell it [name]Zooey[/name]. I’m sorry to be blunt but that spelling is horrid. Plus I always say zoo-ee if I ever talk about the actress.
You could use [name]Zoe[/name] and call her [name]Zo[/name] as a nn maybe? And for the trendy question - I wouldn’t consider it trendy. It’s a pretty old name that’s been somewhat popular for a long time (looks like it’s only been out of the top 1000 a couple times for a short time).
I agree, [name]Zoe[/name] is “ZOH-ee,” [name]Zo[/name] is “[name]Zo[/name],” and [name]Zoey[/name] is kree8iv. I think it is a bit trendy, but not as much as something like [name]Nevaeh[/name]. While it has had a sharp rise in popularity, it’s got a long history of use and I think it’s a great name.
If the popularity bothers you, I’d recommend [name]Zofia[/name] ([name]ZO[/name]-fya) with the nickname [name]Zo[/name] or [name]Zoe[/name].
I disagree that [name]Zoey/Zooey[/name] is kree8tiv (Salinger used the name Zooey in his 1957 novella), although I prefer the more traditional spelling and the more traditional pronunciation. No way are you going to get anyone to pronounce [name]Zoe[/name] as [name]Zo[/name].
It’s pretty popular, I think. If you take a look at the popularity rise in the last decade, you’ll see why.
I don’t think [name]Zoe[/name] or any spelling is trendy I just think it’s super popular. There have been tons of them go through the daycare in the last 3 years and 2 of them there right now ([name]Zoe[/name] [but with an umlaut on the e] and [name]Zoey[/name]).
I don’t think many people will pronounce [name]Zoe[/name] as ZOH. If you want Zoh but not [name]Zoe[/name], spell it [name]Zo[/name] or Zoh. I think [name]Zo[/name] is pretty cool as a nickname for [name]Zoe[/name].
[name]Zoey[/name]/[name]Zoe[/name] is very popular and I dare say it’s teetering on the edge of trendiness. The common pronunciation in the USA is [name]ZO[/name]-ee, however, the actual Greek pronunciation is zo-EE, meaning “life”. I think if you want to say "[name]ZO[/name]’, you should just use that as a nickname for [name]Zoe[/name] or [name]Zoey[/name].
My daughter is [name]Zoe[/name] & almost 6. I had only heard the name on TV prior to my daughter being born. Guess I just notice it more now. But out of over 200 kindergarteners, she’s the only [name]Zoe[/name]. 
Once in a while, usually one of the clinic nurses, will say [name]Zo[/name] instead of [name]Zoe[/name], most everyone gets that it’s [name]Zoe[/name] with emphasis on the “e”. [name]One[/name] of her uncles has nicknamed her [name]Zo[/name]-[name]Zo[/name] though. LOL Once in a while some older women from church will spell it with the “y”, but I just account that to them being old. LOL

I definitely don’t think it’s too trendy. It’s pretty popular though, if that bothers you. I doubt you could get your preferred pronunciation, but it would work fine as [name]Zo[/name] or as a nickname. I would pronounce Zoh more like Zaw though. [name]Zoey[/name] is odd for me, I don’t like the Y. And [name]Zooey[/name] is pronounced Zoo-ee and is a diminutive of [name]Zachary[/name].
[name]Zoe[/name] is pronounced [name]Zo[/name]-ey where I am, and I much prefer this to the ‘Zoh’ way. The kre8tif spellings [name]Zooey[/name]/[name]Zoey[/name] bug me. I think [name]Zoe[/name] is a nice fresher alternative to the somewhat tired [name]Chloe[/name].
@lyricmom [name]Zooey[/name] of [name]Franny[/name] and [name]Zooey[/name] was male, and his name was a nickname for [name]Zachary[/name]. [name]Zooey[/name] Deschanel is reportedly named for him. It’s different from [name]Zoey[/name], which is literally people not knowing or not accepting that “[name]Zoe[/name]” is the standard spelling. [name]Every[/name] Greek long e-ending name I’ve ever heard of ends in the letter “e-” [name]Persephone[/name], [name]Ariadne[/name], [name]Psyche[/name], [name]Antigone[/name], etc. etc. In my opinion, [name]Zoey[/name] is mistranslated, end of story.
[name]Zoe[/name] ([name]ZO[/name]-ee) was the name of two Byzantine empresses who lived during the 800-900’s so it’s been around for ages. To me, it’s a popular name but not trendy. However, [name]Zoey[/name] and [name]Zooey[/name] are alternative spellings and I find them to be trendy. Most people pronounce [name]Zoe[/name] as two-syllables and this is the only spelling I like.
