Zohar

Almost 15 weeks to go until our baby arrives, and we’re still not completely sure about the name. [name_m]Baltasar[/name_m] is still our top runner, but lately we’ve been thinking about [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] a lot… I’d like to hear your opinion. Is it too out there, or not? Would it go well with Hjörtur and possibly [name_m]Baltasar[/name_m], if we keep it on our list for a third baby and don’t use it now? What about middle names?

[name_m]Zohar[/name_m] has a lot going for it, in my mind. It’s short and not too complicated, but different. Despite it being Hebrew it has a bit of an Icelandic/Scandinavian feel, especially with the -ar ending (like [name_m]Ragnar[/name_m], Gretar etc., all names I love). SO has Jewish heritage, so the fact that it’s Hebrew is a nice connection to his family. And last but not least, it means brilliance or light, and this baby will be a light in our lives after a long, difficult time.
So… What are your thoughts?

I really like it. Like you say, it’s unique but simple and i think it fits well with both Hjörtur and Baltasar - i like how they all have the same ending and slightly rugged yet sophisticated feel.

Zohar Addai and Zohar Mattias would be nice!

Zohar Adlai, Zohar Vincent, Zohar Linus, Zohar Amos, Zohar Bruno, Zohar Ellis, Zohar Fenrir, Zohar Rex and Zohar Reinhart?

@greyblue: thanks. I like [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] [name_m]Adlai[/name_m], [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] [name_m]Linus[/name_m] and [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Fenrir and [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] [name_m]Amos[/name_m] are nice too.

I love the name [name_m]Zohar[/name_m]! I also think [name_m]Baltasar[/name_m] works well with both names.

Since your first son has an Icelandic first name and Hebrew middle you could give [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] an Icelandic middle?

Hjörtur [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] and

[name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Magnús
[name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Antóníus
[name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Fálki
[name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Ilías
[name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Kilían

Some more names if you like the idea.

I think [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] is a really cool name with a lovely sentiment that goes well with Hjörtur and [name_m]Baltasar[/name_m]! I like the above suggestions of [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] [name_m]Mattias[/name_m] and [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Addai. I also think having an Icelandic middle name would be a nice connection. I’m not super familiar with Icelandic names, but [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Björn, [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] Adrían, and [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] [name_f]El[/name_f]ías sound nice to me.

I too think [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] is a great name that would work really well with Hjörtur (and Baltasar). I like the meaning it has for you and I agree with the idea of potentially using an Icelandic middle for [name_m]Zohar[/name_m], to create balance in the sibset.

[name_m]Baltasar[/name_m] or [name_m]Zohar[/name_m], this little guy will have a great name.
