Hello berries,
I would like to have some opinions on a boyname [name_u]Zooey[/name_u]. I have been warming it up for a long time and now think it’s really spunky and cheerful. I am toying with the idea of using a longer Z name like [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m], [name_m]Zedekiah[/name_m] or [name_m]Zared[/name_m] and shortening it to [name_u]Zooey[/name_u]. I am aware some people may mispronounce it but I am more concerned that it may be confused with [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], do you think it’s a problem? What do you think of [name_u]Zooey[/name_u]?
Thank you for your time and help!
Sorry too close to [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] for me, its fine as a niickname though.
I think it’s too tied to [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] Deschanel and the name [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] to ever be pulled off on a boy
It could work as a nickname, but I’ll be honest - I don’t think it really sounds/looks/feels like one.
I don’t think it’s usable on a boy. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is too popular, and most people will see [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] as a variant spelling.
Basically what the others said. [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] sounds and looks feminine. It’s all girl to me and very connected to the actress [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] Deschanel. She is the first person I think of when I see it. I definitely think it will be mistaken for [name_f]Zoe[/name_f].
Thank you berries! Now I see [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] probably isn’t the best nickname for boy out there.
I don’t think it’s usable on a boy. The only association I have with the name is [name_u]Zooey[/name_u] Deschanel and I presume a lot of people have heard of her.
Not a big fan sorry! If you want Z names how about;
[name_m]Zeke[/name_m] ([name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m])
[name_m]Zac[/name_m]
[name_m]Zacharias[/name_m]
[name_m]Zain[/name_m]/Zayn
[name_m]Zarin[/name_m]
[name_m]Zavier[/name_m]
I agree that it’s tied to [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] and I don’t think a boy could ever really pull it off. It’s a shame because it’s a nice name but I think some people will tie it to the girl name and also think it’s a misspelling.
