11 days till due date... HELP!

So on our list for baby girl we have [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]…

We had [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] but took it off due to lack of (what we consider good) nicknames…

And now I think [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] is “falling” off my list as as realized half of our family can’t pronounce it (non english speakers) and it bothers me :frowning:

I am really crushing on [name_f]Fern[/name_f] but I dont know if its too odd with my son J0sef… and it has NO nicknames… which usually bugs me but [name_f]Fern[/name_f] is just so cute …

So what do you think of [name_f]Fern[/name_f]? Is it too cutsey or can it be grown up?

Also which is better? [name_f]Fern[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] or [name_f]Colette[/name_f]??

HELP!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Fern[/name_f]. But if you usually prefer names that have nicknames and [name_f]Fern[/name_f] is a relatively new crush, it might be a risky pick for a first name in case you regret it later. Taking [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] off the list because it’s hard to pronounce for your family definitely seems like a valid reason. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] are very cute, those both sound like great contenders!

I totally agree with pp, and I prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] to [name_f]Colette[/name_f]! Plus, [name_f]Fern[/name_f] and J0sef sound too similar…

I think [name_f]Fern[/name_f] is super cute. I would use [name_f]Fern[/name_f] as a middle not a first just because I don’t like the way it feels when I say it. I like names that roll of the tongue and feel nice when I say them but maybe that’s just my weird preference.

I really like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. you can’t go wrong with either one both are beautiful. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] doesn’t really need a nn. I like coco or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] as nn for [name_f]Colette[/name_f].

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] or [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] both are lovely combos and go well with your son’s name. I’d go for one of these!

I find [name_f]Fern[/name_f] a bit odd, both with your son’s name and as a name suited for an adult (in my opinion, obviously). I do much prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f], however, something along the lines of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] nn [name_f]Fern[/name_f] could work really well as [name_f]Fern[/name_f], to me, could easily be a pet name (it’s not really a recognized name, more along the lines of [name_f]Petal[/name_f], which also sounds very cute and pet-namey to me, both could be a pet-/nickname to any name really).

I still love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] the most (nn [name_f]Essie[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Estee[/name_f], etc). Next would [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] (or [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]?). I also second the idea of [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f].

[name_f]Colette[/name_f]!

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is super out dated in [name_f]France[/name_f].

I think we have similar taste as I also love two syllable french names. I don’t think [name_f]Fern[/name_f] is nearly as pretty as [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. Of the two I like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] slightly more - what a great name. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is also a beautiful choice. [name_f]Fern[/name_f] would work as a middle with either.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] doesn’t really need a nickname as it’s relatively short and sweet. It’s such a romantic, clean, crisp name. You can always use [name_f]Elle[/name_f] as a nickname. Or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. Or [name_f]Essie[/name_f]. Lots of options.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is my favorite, but I also love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Bridget[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Colette[/name_f] the best.

I love [name_f]Fern[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f]! I think I like [name_f]Colette[/name_f] slightly more. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is ok, but I don’t like it nearly as much as the other two. I think either [name_f]Fern[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f] or [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] would be great.

I’m sad to see [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] has fallen off your list. I adore this name. Have you thought of using [name_f]Esme[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] as a nn?

Of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] I’d pick [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. I actually do like [name_f]Fern[/name_f] as a middle name, it’s cute and quirky.

My vote is [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Colette[/name_f]! [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] would be adorable

I am going to the be the odd one here. I like [name_f]Fern[/name_f] the most. I don’t feel like it needs a nn (then again i’m not a huge fan of nicknames, i figure if one comes naturally, great but i wouldn’t choice a name for a nn, but I realize other people like nicknames).

I don’t feel [name_f]Fern[/name_f] sounds odd with [name_m]Josef[/name_m]. I will say [name_f]Colette[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] are similar style and [name_f]Fern[/name_f] doesn’t quite fit. Plus you don’t seem to have reservations about them like you do with [name_f]Fern[/name_f], so it almost sounds like you’re torn between the two. Out the two, i guess im more drawn towards [name_f]Colette[/name_f], but both are fine.

I like [name_f]Fern[/name_f]. I think it’s a pretty name and that it can mature. However, I much prefer [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. It’s sophisticated, beautiful, and has darling nicknames {[name_f]Coco[/name_f] and [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] <3}. Besides that, it complements J0sef without being similar – the best kind of sibling name.

I really like [name_f]Fern[/name_f], I think it matches well with your son’s name, it makes you a funkier family.
Have you considered [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]? One of my daughter’s is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and I love her name, it’s not overused, familiar to both languages…

[name_f]Fern[/name_f] probably would become Fernie… I think any name can have a nickname!
