My wife and I have decided on a first name after much discussion, only now we need to decide on how to spell it and decide on a middle name…
First name [name]Makenna[/name] or [name]McKenna[/name]???
Also we need a middle name and I was hoping to get some suggestions. We both kind of like the one syllable names but also have a flare for the unique so pretty much we are open to anything.
Hmm… I like the name, but I don’t like a second capital letter, and at the same time [name]Makenna[/name] just doesn’t seem complete to me… I would spell it [name]Mackenna[/name], but of the two you listed I like [name]Makenna[/name] better. With a more cutesy first name I like classic middle names.
Or something more fun
[name]Mackenna[/name] [name]Skye[/name]
[name]Mackenna[/name] [name]Raine[/name]
[name]Mackenna[/name] [name]Heidi[/name]
[name]Mackenna[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
I prefer the spelling [name]Makenna[/name], i feel like that is the way it sounds when you say it out loud instead of "mick’'kenna, i say "ma"kenna, but that is just my pronounciation
[name]Makenna[/name] faith
[name]Makenna[/name] cailee
[name]Makenna[/name] grace
[name]Makenna[/name] [name]Blair[/name]
[name]Makenna[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Makenna[/name] emily
[name]Makenna[/name] emeline
[name]Makenna[/name] kaelynn
possible middle names?
by the wat i love the name [name]Makenna[/name]- such a pretty sounding name
I too thought [name]McKenna[/name] immediately. But the poster is right: it does depend a bit on how you expect to pronounce it and want others to pronounce it. Should it starck with a [name]Mick[/name] sound or a Mah sounds.
I prefer the [name]Makenna[/name] spelling, but I really don’t mind either! It seems like the forum likes [name]McKenna[/name] best (I just skimmed - sorry if I’m wrong.)
[name]Mackenna[/name]. [name]McKenna[/name] just screams surname. First names should not have random capital letters inserted into their middles. Can you imagine a [name]ChRistine[/name] or a [name]ReBecca[/name]? I dunno. [name]Just[/name] looks daft to me.
Thank you eveyone for the replies and suggestions… I think my wife and I have decided to go with [name]Makenna[/name] as we are really looking for the “mah” sounds instead of “mick” as some of you have mentioned.
I wanted to get some other opinnions on the middle name… We originally liked going with a nice short one syllable middle name but now I am thinking that maybe a traditional name in the middle might be appropriate since [name]Makenna[/name] is a diferent. What do you think and any sugestions on a middle name would be much appreciated.
Thanks again for all the replies and suggestions, you all are great!!!
In my opinion, the K in [name]McKenna[/name] does not need to be capitalized. We’re talking about a first name here, not a surname. Mc before a capital letter (ex, [name]McGuire[/name], McClain, McIntyre etc) is the short form of [name]Mac[/name] which means “son of.” To do this for a first name for a girl seems very, very weird and unnecessary.
Also, [name]McKenna[/name] is not a “different” name. It is extremely popular and I would highly consider looking into a new name. In a couple decades this name will be extremely dated (like [name]Brenda[/name] is now) and one of those “phase names.”
I prefer [name]Makenna[/name] of the two, so I’m glad you’re going with that. [name]McKenna[/name]/[name]Makenna[/name] seems a bit masculine to me, so I’d go with something feminine in the middle.
