In celebration of the official American top names of 2017 being released today, I thought it would be cool to start a thread of the top 2017 names from other countries.
From my home, the top 20 in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] for 2017 are:
I wish there were data from Mexico. I don’t think there is any way to keep track though, because they don’t have to fill out the birth certificate right away. So someone could have their baby [name_u]December[/name_u] 2017 and not have the name registered until [name_u]March[/name_u] 2018. I want to observe the preschool when I go down this summer, so I’ll have to note which names I hear a lot. I hadn’t heard either of my girls’ names when I went down 2 years ago, so that’s good.
It’s interesting to see how some of these are the same and others so completely different!
Germany doesn’t keep official records, but there are several good estimations. I use the blogger [name_m]Knud[/name_m] Bielefeld’s one.
It’s so interesting seeing how different things are in other countries!
