25 weeks of deliberations later

And we still have no name! I’ve read 100s of pages of these boards, and still come back to the same two names.

I’d like to honor my Mother who passed away from breast cancer in some way, but cannot find any way to use [name]Merri[/name] [name]Kay[/name] in a way I like.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Everly[/name], but hubby says he just can’t bring himself to like it.

The closest we’ve come to agreeing is [name]Avalon[/name], and as my Moms birthday was on Feb 14th, we’d use [name]Valentine[/name] as a middle name.

Any creative [name]Merri[/name]-esque names are welcome, and what do you think of [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Valentine[/name]? Her brothers name is [name]Grayson[/name], if that’s of any help.

I think a [name]Mary[/name] name could be great compromise! [name]Rosemary[/name] (one of my absolute favorites!), [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Mary[/name] [name]Beth[/name], or maybe just [name]Mary[/name] by itself? I actually think it would be refreshing to meet a young [name]Mary[/name]. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Avalon[/name] is very pretty, as is [name]Mary[/name] [name]Valentine[/name]. I like the idea of [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Valentine[/name], but it is a mouthful, and too many syllables for my personal taste. What a about [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Merri[/name] or [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Mary[/name]?

I like the first name [name]Avalon[/name], but I love that you’re honoring your mother with [name]Valentine[/name].

[name]Merri[/name]-esque names:
[name]Meredith[/name]
[name]Amerie[/name]
[name]Marie[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Emera[/name]
[name]Meranda[/name]
[name]Meraude[/name]
[name]Mera[/name]
[name]Merida[/name]
[name]Meribelle[/name]
[name]Merika[/name]
[name]Merissa[/name]
[name]Meryl[/name]
[name]Esmeralda[/name]
[name]Mercedes[/name]

Also, [name]Meredith[/name], [name]Maribel[/name], [name]Maris[/name]?

[name]Marie[/name], [name]Annemarie[/name], [name]Rosemarie[/name]? Sorry I just keep thinking of more!

My moms name was spelled [name]Merri[/name], which makes the task even more difficult!

My husband loves [name]Merri[/name] [name]Avalon[/name], but I would just feel strange using my moms name so directly. [name]Amerie[/name] is adorable! I know [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] is a lot of ‘v’, and possibly too cutesy for what I originally thought I liked in a name.

[name]Maribel[/name] is great too!

[name]Avalon[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] does not flow perfectly, but both are nice names and I like that you are using a first name you love and honoring with the middle name!

Some other ideas:
[name]Merris[/name] might be a great way to honor your mother!
Also, if you are looking for other ways to honor her, have you thought about using her favorite flower, color, or a word name that represents something she loved?

Might you and your husband like [name]Waverly[/name], [name]Oakley[/name], [name]Ainsley[/name], or Avonlea?

Although [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] won’t win any awards for flow, it has a certain cadence that sounds girly girl and tomboy. You could always pronounce [name]Valentine[/name] as [name]Valen[/name]-teen for a less cutesy name. I think [name]Amerie[/name] is gorgeous, as well. [name]Avalon[/name] [name]Amerie[/name] has an alliterative but grown up sound and great flow.

I really like [name]Merri[/name] [name]Avalon[/name], but if you feel odd about using the name directly, [name]Amerie[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] or [name]Maribel[/name] ([name]Meribel[/name]?) [name]Avalon[/name] would be beautiful names.

Thank you for all the wonderful advice and suggestions, we have a lot of great ideas to consider and talk about!

I adore [name]Merri[/name]! I agree with your husband. You could always go with a longer version like [name]Meridith[/name]. Personally, I love just [name]Merri[/name].

I like the previous suggestions of [name]Amerie[/name] and [name]Merissa[/name] (I know a [name]Marissa[/name] who goes by [name]Rissa[/name] and shes such an amazing person and gorgeous to boot so I have really great associations with that name!)

Good luck!

[name]Love[/name] the suggestion of [name]Mary[/name] [name]Avalon[/name]! That is so pretty!!
