3 days til csection and NO NAME, please help!

I am scheduled for a csection in three days. DH and I cannot agree on a name! My son is [name_m]Brenden[/name_m] and my daughter is [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. Names we have tossed around are:

[name_m]Colin[/name_m] (Popular in my area…I’m a teacher)
[name_u]Carson[/name_u] (I know a girl named this)
[name_m]Trevor[/name_m] (His fav, I don’t like very much)
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] (He says it is boring)
[name_m]Alec[/name_m] (I really like, he doesn’t)
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] (Trendy?)

I’d like to stay with two syllables and he would like to avoid L names (our last name starts with L) and names that end with the long e sound (like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]). I like names that are not too common and not trendy. He keeps throwing out names that are either trendy or used recently on girls as well as boys. Please help us with ideas/suggestions/comments about these names for this little guy. Thank you in advance

I think [name_m]Colin[/name_m] or [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] would be nice with your other children’s names. You should pick a name that you and your husband both like and not worry so much about the popularity of a name.

I like [name_u]Carson[/name_u] and associate it more with boys than with girls. If the girl isn’t a relative or close family friend, I see no real problem going with [name_u]Carson[/name_u]. [name_m]Trevor[/name_m] has a cute British feel to it…[name_m]Travis[/name_m] might be a similar alternative? [name_m]Colin[/name_m] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] are a bit too common and conservative for my taste, and [name_m]Alec[/name_m] just brings to mind the rage-monster [name_u]Baldwin[/name_u]. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] is very cool and fairly historic, I don’t think it’s trendy at all.

Other names along the vein of [name_m]Brenden[/name_m] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]:

[name_m]Connor[/name_m]
[name_m]Allen[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilson[/name_m]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_m]Derrick[/name_m]
[name_u]Shane[/name_u]
[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

From your list I like [name_u]Carson[/name_u] (which I’ve never heard on a girl and generally associate with the butler on Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u], so I think it is fantastic) and [name_m]Alec[/name_m] best. They are both familiar without being overdone. I also like the pp’s suggestion of [name_u]Shane[/name_u] (which I realize isn’t 2 syllables, but I like it) or [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m].

My ranking for the choices you list:

[name_m]Colin[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m]
[name_m]Trevor[/name_m]
[name_u]Carson[/name_u] (really dislike [name_u]Carson[/name_u])

If you like [name_m]Colin[/name_m], perhaps [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Kellen[/name_m], or [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]
If you like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], perhaps [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], or [name_m]Truman[/name_m]
If you like [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], perhaps [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] or [name_m]Graham[/name_m] or [name_m]Declan[/name_m]
If you like [name_m]Alec[/name_m], perhaps [name_m]Adlai[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], or [name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
If you like [name_m]Trevor[/name_m], perhaps [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], [name_u]Brennan[/name_u], or [name_m]Gunther[/name_m]
If you like [name_u]Carson[/name_u], perhaps [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], [name_m]Archer[/name_m], or [name_m]Simon[/name_m]

I don’t think that [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] is too trendy.

And what about [name_u]Corin[/name_u] as a substitute for [name_m]Colin[/name_m]? Personally, I prefer it, and it’s old - Shakespearean, in fact, and makes an appearance in The Chronicles of [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] as well (in The Horse and His Boy).

What about [name_u]London[/name_u]? Or [name_m]Roger[/name_m]?

Thanks everyone for the replies. Please keep the ideas and suggestions/feedback coming! I forgot to mention the middle name will most likely be [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] the names I listed sound ok with that? I am so indecisive. I’m not sure that there is the “it” name on the list that we can agree upon. Time is ticking! Which of those names do you think are becoming more popular?

For you I’d rank them:
[name_m]Colin[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_u]Carson[/name_u]
[name_m]Trevor[/name_m]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]

I think [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is problematic with [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] (double ma- sound) but the others are alright.

[name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Colm[/name_m], or [name_m]Cullen[/name_m]?

Like [name_m]Colin[/name_m], but less common.

I think [name_m]Callum[/name_m] is a good-looking name!

Or [name_u]Clancy[/name_u]?

My Small suggestion is [name_m]Trenton[/name_m]

If you like [name_u]Carson[/name_u], perhaps you like [name_u]Carter[/name_u]? Or Carton?
If you like [name_m]Colin[/name_m], maybe you like [name_m]Nolan[/name_m], [name_m]Colton[/name_m], or [name_m]Connor[/name_m]
[name_m]Trevor[/name_m] [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_m]Travis[/name_m], [name_m]Jason[/name_m], [name_m]Nathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]…[name_m]Timothy[/name_m], [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Judson[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], or [name_m]Titus[/name_m]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m]…Aleksander, [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], Lexander, [name_m]Xander[/name_m], [name_m]Luther[/name_m], [name_m]Ajax[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]- [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] [name_m]Gunner[/name_m] [name_m]Gunther[/name_m] Gabl

I really like [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and don’t think it’s too trendy.

I also like the suggestion above of [name_m]Trenton[/name_m].
