37.5 weeks and no name!

We’ve been struggling for weeks now with no results, and with time running out, we’re hoping the wise Namberrians can guide us!

We’d like our daughter’s (most likely our only child) name to honor as many grandmothers as reasonable, so we’re thinking about using two middles. The last name is Goodman.

Our grandmother names are: [name]Nola[/name] [name]Mae[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Leslie[/name], [name]Angie[/name] [name]Lynn[/name], [name]Jane[/name] [name]Saxe[/name], [name]Annette[/name] Rispler, and [name]Frieda[/name] Kessler

Thus far we’ve favored [name]Nola[/name] as the first name and we’d love to get [name]Frieda[/name] in there, but it’s a tough name.

We’re open to adding a non-grandmother name into the mix in the interest of flow. Some ideas we’ve come up with (but none seem The One):

[name]Nola[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Frieda[/name] ([name]Beatrice[/name] is an aunt)
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Saxe[/name] ([name]Sophie[/name] is a distant aunt, so it’s a stretch)
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Peridot[/name] [name]Frieda[/name] (assuming an [name]August[/name] birth)

I love the idea of [name]Nola[/name] as a first name! My favorite of yours is [name]Nola[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Frieda[/name].

I love [name]Nola[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Frieda[/name]!

[name]Nola[/name] is a lovely girls name!
what about:

[name]Nola[/name] [name]Janette[/name] ([name]Jane[/name] and [name]Anette[/name]) [name]Lynda[/name] ([name]Lynn[/name] and [name]Freida[/name]) Goodman
[name]Nola[/name] [name]August[/name] [name]Mae[/name] Goodman
(N)ola (O)phelia (L)ynn (A)nnette Goodman

Gd [name]Luck[/name]!

I love [name]Nola[/name] [name]Annette[/name]!!!

[name]Nola[/name] [name]Annette[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Nola[/name] [name]Annette[/name] (my favorite, I [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Jane[/name])

Our grandmother names are: [name]Nola[/name] [name]Mae[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Leslie[/name], [name]Angie[/name] [name]Lynn[/name], [name]Jane[/name] [name]Saxe[/name], [name]Annette[/name] Rispler, and [name]Frieda[/name] Kessler

[name]Nola[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] [name]Janette[/name]
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Frieda[/name]
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] or [name]Nola[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (these are my faves!)
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] [name]Frieda[/name]

I love [name]Nola[/name], by the way!

[name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Frieda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] ([name]Anneliese[/name] is a partial combo of [name]Annette[/name] and [name]Leslie[/name])
[name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Frieda[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] ([name]Noelle[/name] for [name]Nola[/name])

[name]Nola[/name] [name]Frederique[/name] [name]Jane[/name] ([name]Frederique[/name] for [name]Frieda[/name]…With both [name]Nola[/name] and [name]Frieda[/name] being two syllables and ending in A, it seems hard to pair them together…)

[name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name] [name]Jane[/name]

Best wishes to you!

I really don’t like any names that start with No. I feel that it gives off a negative vibe and that is unfair to the child. (Sorry to be so honest.) eg [name]Noah[/name], [name]Noeline[/name], [name]Noelle[/name], [name]Naomi[/name], [name]Nathan[/name].

[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Frieda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] sings for me. I hope you like this combo.

Thank you all so much for your ideas and criticism! We’ve been so close to this that it is easy to lose perspective.

Seeing the suggestions has raised another possible issue-- one living grandmother’s name ([name]Jane[/name]) has proven to be far more usable/popular than another living grandmother’s ([name]Lynn[/name]). Using [name]Jane[/name] but not [name]Lynn[/name] would likely lead to an unhappy grandmother, and I really don’t feel [name]Lynn[/name] is either modern or functional enough to land a spot in the name, so I guess that throws [name]Jane[/name] out too!

Thanks again for all your efforts!

Maybe [name]Jacqueline[/name] would be a good compromise between [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Lynn[/name]. It has every letter in [name]Jane[/name] plus the “L” and the “n” from [name]Lynn[/name].

Great idea [name]Susan[/name]!

[name]Nola[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Saxe[/name] is easily my favorite. It has a wonderful flow to it, and it sound smodern and classic at the same time.

I envy the grandmothers’ names you get to pick from!!

Great idea [name]Susan[/name]! :)[/quote]
Thanks, Ricamaca, I love the name [name]Jacqueline[/name]. It is on my short list that is actually not so short!

What great names you get to pick from!! I love [name]Nola[/name] [name]Mae[/name] super cute!!
Here are some others I like

[name]Esme[/name] [name]Nola[/name] (a different twist to [name]Mae[/name])
[name]Frieda[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Angelina[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Lola[/name] [name]Annette[/name] (lynn and nola)
[name]Frieda[/name] [name]Saxe[/name]
[name]Kelsey[/name] [name]Mae[/name]

Please [name]DON[/name]'T throw out [name]Jane[/name]. I am a grandmother and when my first grandchild was born her mn was that of my d.i.l’s mother. I didn’t mind at all and I loved my granddaughter’s name. She was named [name]Belle[/name] [name]Maree[/name] and I loved the flow, so no unhappy grandmother here. [name]Lynn[/name] is a little unsubstantial but could be incorporated as [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Jacquelyn[/name], [name]Carolyn[/name], [name]Adelyn[/name], [name]Linnea[/name] etc.

I still love my [name]Beatrix[/name] combo too.

About me.

Everyone who is having a baby comes to me for advice because I am an absolute name nerd. At the moment my gorgeous daughter is expecting and every day I send her a new name combo for a boy and a girl by email. There is absolutely no pressure on her to choose a name that I send but she finds it helpful to sort through her likes and dislikes. [name]Do[/name] you think I am a bit odd being so mad on names?

Great idea [name]Susan[/name]! :)[/quote]
Thanks, Ricamaca, I love the name [name]Jacqueline[/name]. It is on my short list that is actually not so short![/quote]

LOL! I know what you mean! I had like 3 (not great names) on my short list before coming to this wonderful site…now I think I have 20:)

You’ve got a great group of names to work with!

[name]Nola[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Ophelie[/name] [name]Frieda[/name]
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Angeline[/name] [name]Frieda[/name]
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Frieda[/name]
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Anette[/name] Kessler

Some [name]Lynn[/name] alternatives you may like:

[name]Linnea[/name], [name]Lynnette[/name] (which incorporates [name]Annette[/name]), [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Linden[/name], Roseline/lyn…

For [name]Nola[/name], you may also like [name]Finola[/name], which could honor both [name]Nola[/name] and [name]Frieda[/name] (with the F).

Good luck!

[name]Nola[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Frieda[/name] - the flow isn’t the best, but this is very pretty
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Saxe[/name] - I’m not a huge fan of [name]Saxe[/name].
[name]Nola[/name] [name]Peridot[/name] [name]Frieda[/name] - very beautiful.

I love the suggestions of [name]Jacqueline[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name]! Also, how about [name]Angelica[/name] or [name]Angelina[/name] to honour [name]Angie[/name] and [name]Annette[/name], and [name]Maeve[/name] to honour [name]Nola[/name] [name]Mae[/name]?

Good luck!
