Honestly I think McGill is great on its own, but of your options, I think [name]Gilbert[/name] [name]Henry[/name] is the nicest
Thanks Moonkai. McGill was used already for my sister’s mn, so she has claimed future naming rights. That is why McGill has never been an option. She intends to use it for girl in the form of [name]Mary[/name] McGill and call her [name]Mary[/name] [name]Mack[/name], or as McGill for a boy and call him [name]Mack[/name]. She is probably at least 6 years away from ttc, but she refuses to budge. So, reluctantly, I have honored her request.
I think it is an awesome name too. Thanks for responding!
I’d prefer to not give out too much more info about our last name- it has the very strong, [name]German[/name] “K” sound. (It’s why I finally took off ‘[name]Kurt[/name],’ even though I love the name and it would have honored a beloved uncle who passed, but when put with our last name it just sounded too clipped and abrasive.) I hope this helps.
On its own, I like [name]Gilbert[/name] [name]Henry[/name] best but I find [name]Hal[/name] & [name]Gil[/name] a bit too similar/matchy or something that doesn’t just sit right so I voted for [name]George[/name]. I think having a [name]Hal[/name] and a [name]George[/name] will give each of your sons a name that is all his own.
Aussiesteph- YES! You just nailed our problem perfectly. I love [name]Hal[/name] and [name]Joe[/name] together, much more than [name]Hal[/name] and [name]Gil[/name] for some reason. I know [name]Hal[/name] and [name]Gil[/name] only share one letter, but something about them together isn’t working for me. However, I don’t want to use [name]Joe[/name] b/c of the high popularity, especially with [name]Harold[/name]/[name]Hal[/name] being much less common. I like [name]George[/name] with both [name]Harold[/name] and [name]Hal[/name], but Hubby has been slow to commit. I’m hoping I can get enough feedback from this poll to convince one of us to compromise.
I love [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Carey[/name]!
Thanks to everyone who has voted! It makes me feel more confident in my choices when discussing with hubby.
He has good ideas, but he still thinks the same names are popular today that were popular when we were growing up.
Thanks again everyone. Hubby and I appreciate all your feedback and comments. I think we are ready to make it official: [name]George[/name] [name]Barrett[/name] is going to be our little boy’s name, if our second child turns out to be a boy. Again, it was a journey and your input helped us reach our goal without killing each other.
