Hi guys, I am 40 weeks pregnant and we are really stuck on what to call our daughter. We like the names Lilia/Liliah and Londyn but have had mixed reviews from our family. We like the letter L but are open to anything. I am into more modern/unique names and my husband more traditional.
If you love [name_f]Lillia[/name_f] or [name_u]Londyn[/name_u], use what you love! It’s not your family’s decision. It’s yours! I do prefer [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] spelling as well as [name_u]London[/name_u]. The Y is a bit tacky imo.
Honestly naming is really tough I struggled naming my daughter it’s just a huge responsibility and you want the right name for your little girl. I completely understand the difficulty. Personally I would stop talking to your family about names my family talked me out of so many names and it can be very overwhelming. I would just focus on you (and if you have a partner your partner) and your favourites forget about what everyone else thinks. When you need some clarity or helpful tips turn to forums I think it’ll help narrow down her name and take away some of stress
I absolutely love Lilia!!!
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is beautiful! She’s elegant, feminine, has lovely association with the flower and feels universal a Russian name that is used across Europe, [name_u]Israel[/name_u] & even in [name_u]Hawaii[/name_u]. [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] feels like the epitome of spring she has this aesthetic of white flowers, cherry blossom trees and pretty spring days. I think [name_m]Jaymes[/name_m] works wonderfully with [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] (prefer James) balancing out the frilly femininity of [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] with a masculine choice making the combination feel very modern. Regarding spelling I would spell [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] as [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] I think adding the h is unnecessary and makes the name look almost weird. I prefer the streamlined [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] I think she looks balanced and feels elegant.
I am incredibly bias though as the little one I was struggling to name around a year ago is named [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and I think my daughters name is perfect
You’ve had a few suggestions from the berries so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
I like [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] fine. Very pretty but feels quite formal to me.
What about [name_f]Lillie[/name_f]? Feels modern and nicknamey but is actually the vintage version of [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
We also considered [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] for our daughter but couldn’t shake the [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls reference. Its pretty and feels both ancient and modern at the same time.
Sorry for soo many comments Forgot to comment on [name_u]Londyn[/name_u]! I like it but feel like [name_u]Londyn[/name_u] [name_m]Jaymes[/name_m] is too cute with all the Ys. Id do either [name_u]London[/name_u] [name_m]Jaymes[/name_m] or [name_u]Londyn[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] for the spelling. The Y in [name_m]Jaymes[/name_m] is nice and makes it an obvious girly spelling
I really like [name_u]London[/name_u] but personally much prefer the traditional spelling. Because it’s a word name it would just get misspelt her whole life anyways.
