My husband and I are expecting our 4th child any day now and we are stuck on a girl’s name. We have 3 little boys: [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], and [name_m]Tuck[/name_m].
Middle name will be [name_f]Susan[/name_f], my Mother’s name. I am less concerned about how the middle name fits with the first name… I just think we so rarely use our middle names in life- it’s more important to me to find the right first name
We both agree that we would love a name that is both sweet for a little girl but is sophisticated and sexy for a growing woman as well.
I have loved [name_f]Zara[/name_f] since we first began having kids. I am half-Iranian and have a Persian name myself. I think it is such a soft, sweet, elegant name but my worries are: 1) if you say it really fast, people will drop the “r” and it will sound more like “zaa” 3) how a Persian/ Arabic name blends with the other sib set names (not my top priority bc she will not live with her brothers all her life!) 3) is it too “foreign” for a slightly less than cosmopolitan, international town?
I love [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] too for the same reasons as above but it does strike me as a rather masculine name and after naming 3 boys I feel this is my only chance to go “girlie”!
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is adorable (and the baby will, after all, be born in [name_f]May[/name_f]) but I wonder whether it carries the same sophistication later in life that the first two names do. I know we could choose [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] but I am not a fan of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or it’s other nicknames that her name could ultimately morph into. Same with [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] and [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
Any thoughts??? Please help! The ONLY thing stressing me out about going into labor right now is that I am not set on a name yet!! I don’t like to make the decision in the hospital bc of the flux of hormones, fatigue, etc…
[name_f]Zara[/name_f] is my favourite name from your list. I am unaware of how people could drop the ‘r’ if they are pronouncing [name_f]Zara[/name_f] correctly. [name_f]Zara[/name_f] does not go well with [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Tuck[/name_m] but I would not think of that as an issue. [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is fine for a slightly less than cosmopolitan international town.
I dislike the name [name_f]Georgia[/name_f].
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] feels like more of a nickname than a proper name. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] does not have the same sophistication as [name_f]Zara[/name_f].
My favorite is [name_f]Zara[/name_f], I think it fits the “cute for a little girl, sophisticated for a grown woman” thing perfectly/! I don’t see how [name_f]Zara[/name_f] would not fit with [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Tuck[/name_m], to me it’s the same kind of short and spunky and I don’t even find it that outlandish because of its closeness to the well-known [name_f]Sara[/name_f] / [name_f]Sarah[/name_f].
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is very sweet as well and it shares the nickname-y thing with your boys but I do agree it’s a bit cutesy for an adult.
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] feels a bit too long / elaborate with your sibset.
I love the flowery feel if [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] (this spelling) with your all boys names. I also really love [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] with your sons names as well.
I should add- if any one has other name ideas to throw into the bin, that would be great too! You can probably see the trend of names we enjoy with the names of the boys and our name potential for girls. Thank you!!!
[name_f]Zara[/name_f] is a beautiful choice! i knew an adorable little girl named [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and nobody ever had a problem pronouncing it/ saying the r sound. I think this is the perfect name to honor your culture while making it “user friendly” to english speakers! i agree it doesnt go so much with your boys names but i don’t think that’s an issue.
i’m in the minority here but I like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]/[name_f]Maisey[/name_f]. it has a similar feel as [name_u]Macey[/name_u] to me, and there have been many successful adult Maceys/Staceys/Traceys in the past so I personally don’t see an issue with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] isn’t really my style but I dont see anything wrong with it if you like it.
I love [name_f]Zara[/name_f]! I think [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Tuck[/name_m], and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] are adorable together, and I love that it honors your heritage. [name_f]Zara[/name_f]'s been on and off my list for years, and I would be so excited to meet a little [name_f]Zara[/name_f]. It seems to fit all your requirements, and I think [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Susan[/name_f] is really great. It just seems to be perfection! [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] are lovely, too, but [name_f]Zara[/name_f] just seems perfect. I never would have thought anyone would eclipse the “R”? I guess it could happen, but very rarely in [name_u]America[/name_u], from my experience.
I really like [name_f]Zara[/name_f]. [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Susan[/name_f] is great. I love the combo [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] as well. Good luck and congrats!!
Go with [name_f]Zara[/name_f]! I did not think Persian/Arabic at all until you mentioned that, but now I see both. I like it better than [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], and better with your boys.
Without reading your whole post, when I saw your son’s names I automatically thought: [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Tuck[/name_m], and [name_f]Molly[/name_f]!
I guess that means [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Susan[/name_f]. If you wanted a longer name for [name_f]Molly[/name_f] you could use [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] (loooove!)
[name_m]Just[/name_m] throwing this out there too, as I thought of it again recently… [name_u]Piper[/name_u] would fit very nicely with [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], and [name_m]Tuck[/name_m]… I like the name [name_u]Piper[/name_u] a lot, though it does not appear to be as soft or sophisticated a name in the long term as [name_f]Zara[/name_f]- to me at least.
I think you should use [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and then give her a spunky, sweet nn like Zippy or [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] or Zaylie to go with the boys when you want that and while she’s little! [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_u]Zia[/name_u] or ZeeZee would be cute! My choice would be [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]! And [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is a lovely, elegant choice. Congratulations!
Another one for [name_f]Zara[/name_f]…[name_f]Maisey[/name_f] is a nn-type name, to me at least, & [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] doesn’t go as well w/your boys’ names. Good luck!
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Piper[/name_u]. I don’t think theres any issue with it aging well. [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Susan[/name_f] would be beautiful, and I agree that it fits nicely with your other names.
My second choice would be [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]! It’s on my personal name list. I think it ages well and sounds great with your kids’ names. I know a little girl that goes by [name_f]GiGi[/name_f], which I think is adorable.
