I would love suggestions that you think go with our children’s names!
I have four boys and their names are:
-Henry [name_u]Blake[/name_u]
-Theodore [name_u]Jude[/name_u] (Theo)
-Everett [name_u]Scott[/name_u] (my closest cousins name and my husband‘s middle name, not indicative of my naming style but they were important names for us)
-Oliver [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
I am pregnant with my fifth and it is a girl! This is likely our last child and I am really struggling with coming up with the perfect name because I’m trying to narrow it down to the most perfect girl name.
The name I’ve always wanted to use is [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] however I really don’t like the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. I considered [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] as a middle name but really would love to use it as a first name if I can find the perfect middle name for it.
I’m open to middle names, most importantly I want the name to flow and sound beautiful together. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom would love me to use the name [name_u]Anne[/name_u] or [name_u]Marie[/name_u] as a middle name however I’m only willing to do that if it sounds good with the first name.
Congratulations! Your boys have very handsome names. I don’t think [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is an inevitable nickname for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. [name_f]Lo[/name_f] could also work. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Marianna[/name_f] sounds nice to me! Here are some names that strike me as similar in feel to the ones you mentioned:
I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is a great fit with your other children. I don’t think an [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] would necessarily be called [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], but how would you feel if she chose to be called [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] down the line?
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] flow really well, but it’s important that you love the middle name, too! Maybe a variant of these would work: [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe even [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] to combine? I also love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Immaculata[/name_f]
It sounds like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] has your heart, but other suggestions just in case: [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
Seconding @textrovert 's suggestion of [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] just [name_u]Louise[/name_u]. [name_u]Lou[/name_u] would be a great nn. [name_f]Elle[/name_f] could also be a natural nickname for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] if you like that.
I think if this is likely to be your only daughter you should go with your heart and use your favourite name - you might really regret it down the line if you don’t. I don’t think [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is an automatic nickname for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], you could have [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] or [name_f]Lo[/name_f]. The only [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] I know always goes by her full name, and nobody has ever nicknamed her to my knowledge.
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Immaculata[/name_f] is gorgeous, and would be my favourite out of the options you’ve listed. [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and [name_u]Anne[/name_u] are both sweet, but don’t just use them to please your Mother, respectfully, this is your baby not her’s! If you would like to use the honour names in a different form perhaps a few of these variations might be more fitting:
In my case I knew I was just having 1 child, and when I thought of names I loved but didn’t like the nn I only tried to put them as a middle. I think I totally get your situation. I can’t believe I am saying this, but sometimes families do 2 middles just for the girls (I stopped this tradition because of annoyances with forms and stuff, and my husband didn’t like the idea–but I would have loved another spot!) That way you could do a first name with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] in the middle. [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe use the name [name_f]Aloisa[/name_f] and have [name_u]Allie[/name_u] as the nn? I am literally trying to pull out all my ideas in one paragraph, sorry.
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is super pretty! I also like her but hate [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], lol. I like [name_f]Ella[/name_f], though, and would happily have an [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]! I’d even be happy with [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] or [name_u]Isa[/name_u] as a stretch.
I want to like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u], since it seems that [name_u]Marie[/name_u] is special… it’s my own middle though, and I really am not a fan, personally. I find [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Immaculata[/name_f] so intriguing, but without ties to the Catholic faith myself, the significance is lost on me. If it’s meaningful to you, I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Immaculata[/name_f] is gorgeous and the perfect little sister to [name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], and [name_u]Oliver[/name_u]!
Names that feel like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u], and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]:
I love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]!
I think you could easily do the nickname “Elle,” and like someone else said I don’t automatically think [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].
I personally love both
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] &
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Immaculata[/name_f]
Hi, and congratulations!! I love your boys’ names!
I think I would use Eloise if I were you. It’s been your consistent favorite, and that’s pretty powerful! If you/your friends are big nicknamers, I’d establish a different nickname early on, but Eloise isn’t one of those names that begs to be shortened. It’s only three syllables, rolls off the tongue well, and it’s sooooo fun to say! Also, you can always call your daughter Eloise, and even if she starts going by Ellie, I bet you wouldn’t dislike the nickname so much if it’s on your daughter.
Eloise !mmaculat@ is stunning!!! Eloise Marie is nice too, but really, I just think it’s a missed opportunity not to go with Immaculata if you love it! I also really love Lucia but think it’s a lot of “ee” sound with Eloise, unless you’re saying Loo-shuh.

Georgia

I love the previous suggestion of [name_u]Louise[/name_u], and have you considered using [name_u]Eli[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]?
I love the combination of [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u], and [name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]!
Your son [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] has an especially handsome name!
Out of your girls names I like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] & [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] the most, yes even over [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (I try but I’m just not her type or vice versa). Since this is your last child and only baby girl (I suspect she’ll be a tad spoiled lol but tough from all those brothers) why not shoot for 2 middle names? It differs from your other children but I think this circumstance calls for it, it would allow you to honor anyone or use as many names that you didn’t get to use with your other babies.
I apologize if these are totally not your style but I think 2 middles could be a really good decision for you. Congrats on 5 babies you’re a strong momma!
I adore [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and she fits so well with your boys’ names! I think that you could always use [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] as a nickname
I like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. And I like the suggestion of combining [name_f]Ann[/name_f] and Marie; [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f].
Other suggestions similar to Eloise/boys’ names:
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
I love the simple elegance of [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]. i think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is more likely to be shortened to [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_u]Lou[/name_u] rather then [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], and you can always correct people when she’s younger if they try to call her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] as nicknames for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], but my first choice would be to try to call her by her full name. (It can be done. I have a [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] who is a young adult and still goes by her given name.)
I like
[name_u]Henry[/name_u] Bl@ke, Theod0re [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]Everett[/name_u] Sc0tt, [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] Amr0se and….
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u]
I like the flow of [name_u]Anne[/name_u] as a middle name better than [name_u]Marie[/name_u]. I think it is the fact that both [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_u]Anne[/name_u] begin with vowels and the effect is very pleasing
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Antonia[/name_u]
Another idea is to use the three syllable ,Antonia, which begins with the [name_u]Anne[/name_u] sound. This variation has a lovely cadence when said with the first name. and is little less common as a middle name than [name_u]Anne[/name_u] that is used more frequently. Still, I feel it is a legitimate honor hame for [name_u]Anne[/name_u].
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Antonia[/name_u] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]
If [name_u]Marie[/name_u] is also an honor name and you like the idea of using two middles….
[name_f]My[/name_f] niece was almost [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], with the nickname [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]. (She ended up named Penelope.) [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] isn’t very common so I don’t think any particular nickname is inevitable in the way that a [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] might get called [name_m]Jake[/name_m], for example. Out of your three choices, I think I prefer [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]. Probably you would have already thought of this if you liked it but [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] is similar to [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] but with a nod to your honor name [name_u]Anne[/name_u].
Some names that have a similar feel that you might like: [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or Leonore/Leonor, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].
