5 years later...hellooo again!

It’s been a long time! [name_m]Just[/name_m] thought I’d pop in and say hi to anyone who remembers me :waving_hand:

Naming a child is possible in the near future, and inspiration is non existent. Thought I’d log back in again to check my name lists and old comments - only to realise they don’t feel like me anymore :frowning:

Still loving [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] [name_f]Rae[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Bay[/name_f], [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_f]Hummingbird[/name_f], [name_m]Elio[/name_m] [name_m]Stargazer[/name_m], [name_m]Emmett[/name_m] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m] - but unfortunately I feel theyre more suited to the bio of dreams and not actual children.

[name_m]Other[/name_m] names are now members of my partners family, or used as pet names (say hello to our mischief of pet rats - [name_m]Kit[/name_m], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:)

So now I’m starting from scratch - current favourites are [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] - so I’m leaning more traditional than I used to be. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to suggest of middles/combos or throw some inspiration at me  sorry for the slight ramble

Hello!

My assorted thoughts are:

  • Annie could be a very sweet nickname for Rhiannon
  • There might be other long names for Annie to consider - eg Anastasia or Anneliese - and the shorter Anne nn Annie - or even same letter count, Anouk
  • I like Tallulah, and brother Emmett from your older list. Elio and Asa are cool too but I think they’re a different style/ genre and direction.
  • Rosalia Rae and the middle Bay are the names that haven’t dated as well, imo. And Asa is a name about which you need to be extra careful re middle - “as a”.
  • You could still collect a list of equally magical and fairly evenly lengthed middle names - like Hummingbird but considering names like Hawthorne, Wildrose, Evergreen etc (there are lively threads on these long nature names)
  • I love your rats’ names!
  • I would build a list based on Annie and a potentially separate one based on Rhiannon. I don’t see these as sisters b/c of my first point and their different vibes - storybook sweet v lyrical and grounded (if a little punchy).Eg Annie, Rose, Elsa, Mabel, Thea, Clara, Beatrice, Lucy, Heidi, Nell, Ada, Polly, Iris, Fleur, Tabitha versus Rhiannon, Zoe, Maeve, Greer, Fenella, Carys, Kirrily, Anwen (nn Annie), Bryony, Petra, Niamh, Keeva, Seren(a), etc.

Hope this helps!

I totally get the feeling of the name lists we love feeling suited more to dreams than a real human child sometimes.

I love [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] it’s one of my favorites what about [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]? Some of your old loves could potentially be reworked to be more “traditional” for example [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_m]Elias[/name_m], and [name_m]Emmett[/name_m] feels very wearable, the middles are more adventurous but lovely so maybe thinking about the meanings from those? For example for [name_m]Stargazer[/name_m]- [name_f]Stella[/name_f] or [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].

Thanks for such a detailed response! I agree with all of your points  I thought they were too similar for sisters but I never thought of [name_f]Annie[/name_f] being a nickname for [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]. Also I love many of your suggestions - [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Polly[/name_f] have all been on my longer list at some point

Thank you!

I do like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as a middle name, I was previously playing around with [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] but my partner wasn’t a fan. I do like [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as well though.

I like the idea of [name_f]Romy[/name_f] as well, fits nicely with our surname! Might start thinking of [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and [name_f]Romy[/name_f] as sisters :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you! These are definitely my style - [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and have been on my longer lists at some point. I love [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] but unfortunately wouldn’t work with our surname - she’ll still be in my dreams!

Thanks for reigniting my imagination

[name_m]Welcome[/name_m] back! Apologies for resurrecting the thread—I’ve had this saved on my phone for 3 weeks to reply and just got the chance. I don’t believe we talked a ton but I definitely remember your username—loving your style, and it’s so nice to have you back!

I’m super loving [name_m]Elio[/name_m] [name_m]Stargazer[/name_m], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Bay[/name_f], and [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_f]Hummingbird[/name_f]! [name_m]Even[/name_m] if [name_m]Stargazer[/name_m] and [name_f]Hummingbird[/name_f] are a little over the top, I think [name_m]Elio[/name_m] and [name_m]Asa[/name_m] can be redeemed with a more “namey” middle? [name_m]Like[/name_m] [name_m]Elio[/name_m] [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] or [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Huxley[/name_m]?

[name_f]Annie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] are lovely names!

I LOVE the name [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. I think I’d use a more formal form of the name and use [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as a nickname. My favorite [name_f]Anne[/name_f] related name is [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]. It’s familiar enough, but not used frequently. It would give a girl a beautiful, regal sounding name, and with [name_f]Annie[/name_f], a warm, friendly, classic.

Maybe…. [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is utterly adorable! [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] sound cute.

Aww welcome back! I definitely remember your names having such a whimsical, dreamy feel, and I still think [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] [name_f]Rae[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_m]Bay[/name_m] and [name_m]Emmett[/name_m] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m] are gorgeous, even if I get what you mean about them feeling more like “dream baby name list” names than actual day-to-day names now.

I really like [name_f]Annie[/name_f] for you. It feels sweet, warm and familiar, but still has that soft storybook feeling. I think [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Rae[/name_f] would be lovely.

[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is gorgeous too, and feels a bit more dramatic and magical while still being very wearable. I’d pair it with something quite simple, like [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f].

Some others that might fit this newer vibe are [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Jude[/name_m], [name_m]Robin[/name_m], [name_m]Ellis[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Laurie[/name_m] and [name_m]August[/name_m].

My favourites for you would probably be [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Valentine[/name_m]. They still have a little bit of sparkle, but feel much more like actual children rather than just beautiful names on a list.

Side note: my nanna is named [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and my mum is [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] so I can confirm they are lovely names
