Sonogram today at 19 1/2 weeks! It was hard to see, but basically if there is no winkie to see, then its a girl!
I really like [name]Calliope[/name] nn [name]Poppy[/name]! Any suggestions for mn? Last name [name]Nyx[/name] (Actually Scottish/Irish/English not Greek–[name]Nicholas[/name]'s son->[name]Nicholson[/name]->Nickson->[name]Nixon[/name]->Nicks->[name]Nix[/name]->[name]Nyx[/name]. Oh the things we do to language and spelling!)
Anyway, I really like the name for my lil girl but can’t think of a suitable mn. I don’t mind the flow of [name]Calliope[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Nyx[/name] (4-1-1), but maybe 4-3-1 might sound better, but I can’t even think of an example? HELP!!! (Also, [name]Calliope[/name] [name]Jane[/name] sounds like Calamity [name]Jane[/name] to me, not sure if that is good or bad).
It’s funny that you mentioned [name]Jane[/name] because that was the for name that popped into my head when I read the title. I think think [name]Calliope[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Nyx[/name] would be gorgeous but here are some other suggestions you might like as well:
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Nyx[/name] - well, personally I’d choose a classic middle name to balance the whimsical feminine charm of [name]Calliope[/name]. And, she’s already got a “fun” surname in [name]Nyx[/name]…
Oooo, Thanks =) I like [name]Helena[/name], [name]Theresa[/name], [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name]. [name]How[/name] do you pn [name]Helena[/name]? (Hel-[name]LAY[/name]-nuh)
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]June[/name] is pretty, but the n’s in [name]June[/name] and [name]Nyx[/name] run into each other a bit. What about [name]Calliope[/name] [name]Junia[/name] [name]Nyx[/name]?
I noticed that the n’s run together, I have never heard [name]Junia[/name] before, its nice but doesn’t do anything to tame [name]Calliope[/name]! my mom’s name is [name]Sarah[/name], but I’m somewhat concerned about mixing names from other languages, for instance I really like [name]Skye[/name], but that is Scottish. We are not Greek, but I love [name]Calliope[/name]! However, its giving me trouble…
I agree, [name]Junia[/name] doesn’t really tame [name]Calliope[/name]. There’s also [name]Julia[/name], but that doesn’t have anything to do with [name]June[/name]. [name]June[/name] and [name]Nyx[/name] don’t run into each other too much for me because I take a longer pause between them.
I wouldn’t worry about mixing names from other languages. I would guess that a lot of little girls are named, say, [name]Chloe[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], since both are popular. [name]Chloe[/name] is Greek and [name]Elizabeth[/name] is Hebrew, but I don’t think most people care about the differences in origin. It’s not the best comparison, though, since [name]Chloe[/name] is a lot more popular.
Oooo, Thanks =) I like [name]Helena[/name], [name]Theresa[/name], [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name]. [name]How[/name] do you pn [name]Helena[/name]? (Hel-[name]LAY[/name]-nuh)[/quote]
[name]Hi[/name]!
I actually pronounce [name]Helena[/name] as HEH-leh-nuh, as I think the flow is much better, especially with [name]Calliope[/name]…
I noticed that your mother is called [name]Sarah[/name], and I wanted to say that [name]Calliope[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Nyx[/name] is absolutely adorable!
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Marigold[/name] [name]Nyx[/name] is pretty, but it’s a bit too fanciful. [name]Calliope[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Nyx[/name]?
Still not in love with a mn for [name]Calliope[/name]. Some suggestions I liked were (last name [name]Nyx[/name])
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Helena[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] (I do have a first cousin [name]Sophia[/name])
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Skye[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Margaret[/name](after ggramma)
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Anne[/name] (gramma, aunt & my sister have this mn)
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] (after my mom)
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Jean[/name] (mn of aunt)
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Diana[/name] (after gramma but I have a cousin [name]Diana[/name] after gramma already)
[name]Calliope[/name] [name]Marigold[/name] (came to me in a dream! And is my fav but with nn [name]Poppy[/name] a flower mn may not be a good idea).
