Yes! [name_m]John[/name_m] was our other first name contender. I just liked [name_m]George[/name_m] more and liked that that gave them their own first initial (instead of [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_m]James[/name_m] sharing), but maybe that matters less since they go by middles anyway. I’ve also seen others use [name_m]Townsend[/name_m] to get [name_m]Townes[/name_m], but that feels like a stretch to me and I don’t love how the spelling of the nickname also has to deviate from the full name spelling
Yeah I’m my original comment I was against John for same reason (one syllable J name like James). For me the “perfect” solution would be to not lengthen Townes but to lengthen the first name so it’s not a one syllable plus one syllable name. To me, Edward Townes & Peter Townes for eg sounds better than both John Townes & George Townes. Is there another family name for the first name that is more than one syllable? Applies to Locke too though I don’t mind George Locke (John Locke is off list for me as a famous Brit philosopher), I just again think a two syllable first could be better. Or go for John or George - both handsome, upright names - and I think using John is fine - and a two syllable middle name but prob not Townsend, maybe Bridger or another (though I really like Locke & Townes!).
