A Baby Sister for Evie

Our daughter is [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] but everyone calls her [name_f]Evie[/name_f], and we love her name. We are now expecting another girl and cannot land on a name! We love feminine [name_u]French[/name_u] names with cute, short nicknames.

Our favorite name is Sylvienne, but I feel it’s too similar to [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]/Evie (especially if people shorten it). [name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s favorite is [name_f]Felicienne[/name_f] which feels too fancy. We also like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (though not its popularity), and [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] (though not its recent pop culture references).

Sylvienne ([name_f]Liv[/name_f])
[name_f]Felicienne[/name_f] ([name_m]Fin[/name_m])
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ([name_u]Joey[/name_u])
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] ([name_m]Fin[/name_m])

Help us choose!

Love [name_f]Felicienne[/name_f]!!! It’s no fancier than [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]!

Can also use ‘lici’ ‘sia’ ‘fifi’ ‘sienne’ or ‘flic’ as nn

But then [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sound beautiful together and it also has lovely nn options:
[name_u]Josie[/name_u], [name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_f]Effie[/name_f], fifi, sia, ina

I think close nicknames aren’t a problem, and Sylvienne and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] are different enough. I quite like [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]!

Josephine is my favorite. It sounds so cute with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Plus: [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_u]Jo[/name_u] are so adorable!!

Maybe you’d like [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] or Livienne? [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is my favourite from your list, but not with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] second choice would be [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] and I’m not sure what pop culture references you’re talking about :woman_shrugging:t2:

Sylvienne: I’m just afraid people will end up calling her [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and then we’ll have [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] which seems matchy.

Seraphine was our top before we found Sylvienne but it’s close to celebrity baby name [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], is a brand of clothing, and apparently is some weird “virtual influencer” now as well.

Like a PP, I like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nicknames but don’t really like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] as full names together.

Oh, and my husband vetoed [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] early on cause he doesn’t like any [name_f]Lu[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] names. I do though so thanks for the suggestion! It was one I had considered. <3

I love [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! I don’t know anyone with those names and I think they are darling
Have you thought of :
[name_f]Angeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Angelique[/name_f]?
[name_f]Bridgette[/name_f]
[name_u]Camille[/name_u]
[name_f]Celine[/name_f]

I love feminine [name_u]French[/name_u] names too and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is so great. On your list my favorites as a sister to [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] are Sylvienne and [name_f]Felicienne[/name_f].

I also want to suggest [name_f]Marjolaine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mari[/name_f] or [name_u]Laine[/name_u]/Lainey

Marjolaine was my original number 1 but husband hates it! :sob:

Oh nooooo! I love it! Let me talk to him, I’ll convince him it’s perfect :joy:
This is one I suggested to my husband (we’re not pregnant, but I have to throw all my fave names at him early on) and he also hated it. [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] too. Such a bummer!!!

What is wrong with men?! I wish you could convince him because [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Marjolaine[/name_f] fits perfectly, in my opinion

He says it sounds like “margarine”

It IS perfect! And hahaha mine did too!! I think they’re both such lovely names though. I hope someone out there in the Nameberry world gets to use these names!

You know what’s funny? I just brought it up again and now he says he’s willing to consider it! He said he didn’t want a “[name_f]Marge[/name_f]/Margie” and I was like “yeah, and we really didn’t want [name_f]Gen[/name_f]/Genni with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] either and that worked out.” He still prefers [name_f]Felicienne[/name_f] and Sylvienne, but once I pointed out that “[name_u]Joey[/name_u]” was still a potential nicknames, he softened. [name_f]Marjolaine[/name_f] has a chance!

I think I would choose [name_f]Felicienne[/name_f] with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Sylvienne is adorable, though.

Would [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f] work for you? [name_u]Silver[/name_u], [name_m]Silvio[/name_m], or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] nn?
