A Boy Named Lol

In The Guardian newspaper the other day, there was a picture of two brothers (both looked around 5 or under), and my attention was drawn by the unusual moniker of one, Lol. My first thought wasn’t of the acronym, but rather that it was short for [name]Lola[/name] or the like, but it was definitely a little boy in the picture. I did some research online, as I though the name might be a Scandinavian nickname (based mainly on the boys’ appearances and the fact that Lol’s brother was named [name]Jo[/name]-without-an-E, which felt quite Scandinavian to me), and it would appear that Lol is quite an old nickname for [name]Laurence[/name] - [name]Laurence[/name] “Lol” Creme is a British musician born in the 40s.

Thoughts? Does the acronym ruin the nickname?

[name]Auburn[/name]

Almost as bad as Dotcom.
