My daughter’s name is [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_u]Silver[/name_u] and I’m due with a boy this spring. My husband and I can’t agree on any names.
I love:
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u], but he says [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is too popular.
Other names on my list:
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u], [name_m]Graham[/name_m], [name_m]Cole[/name_m], [name_u]Reid[/name_u], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Jake[/name_m], [name_m]Austin[/name_m], [name_m]Jett[/name_m]. He isn’t thrilled with any of them. Would love some suggestions for good boy names.
Sounds like you prefer names that are easy to spell, easy to pronounce and comfortably familiar, toeing the line between traditional and trendy. ([name_m]Jett[/name_m] is the one outlier in your list, and I quite like it with [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]!)
What does your husband not like about the names on your list (other than that [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is too popular)? Has he suggested any names?
Without knowing more about his preferences, it’s hard to make suggestions, but here are other boy names that I think fit the tone of your list but are outside the top 50:
I would be curious to know if your husband has any ideas too, it may be easier to find something you both can agree on with a better understanding of his tastes. (Of your current list I do quite like Jett and Graham!
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] (I love the nickname [name_u]Cal[/name_u])
[name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] ([name_u]Dylan[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]'s initials reversed)
[name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] ([name_m]Just[/name_m] because I love it)
His suggestions were [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] and [name_m]Derek[/name_m], and I wasn’t in to either. He likes [name_m]Jett[/name_m], but we weren’t sure on middle name for that. He doesn’t like [name_u]Blake[/name_u] because it makes him think of [name_u]Blake[/name_u] [name_m]Shelton[/name_m]. He doesn’t like [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] because there was a guy in his fraternity with that name that he didn’t like. He doesn’t like jack because a friend of ours sister used it for her son. Basically, he has no real reason for not liking any of the names. It’s funny that you suggested chase. I mentioned that last night and he liked it.
He suggested [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] and [name_m]Derek[/name_m] and I
Wasn’t into either. He likes [name_m]Jett[/name_m], but we weren’t sure on a middle name. I love [name_m]Graham[/name_m], he says it reminds him of a [name_m]Graham[/name_m] cracker. I seriously can’t make this stuff up and he is just so frustrating!!
I think if you had a boy named [name_u]Blake[/name_u] he would cease to think of [name_u]Blake[/name_u] [name_m]Shelton[/name_m] whenever he thought of his child lol. I also think that celebrity’s full names come as a unit. He’s not really just [name_u]Blake[/name_u] to me, he’s [name_u]Blake[/name_u] [name_m]Shelton[/name_m]. I do really like [name_u]Chase[/name_u] though!
I love [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], [name_u]Emmet[/name_u] and [name_m]Luke[/name_m].
I’ve suggested them all. He says [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] makes him think of a [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], the mythical
Creature. He has no comments for [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], [name_u]Emmet[/name_u] and [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. It was so much easier to name our daughter and he was much more agreeable. Boys names are hard!!
I’ll see if I can think of some middle name suggestions for [name_m]Jett[/name_m], since you both like that one. Are you looking to do a single middle name or double like sister [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]? [name_u]Chase[/name_u] also goes well with [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], I’ll try and think of some middle combos for it as well.
[name_u]Chase[/name_u] is already a winner in my book. It sounds good with [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] and is a nice compromise between your favorites and his. If you’re still looking though, how about:
[name_m]Clayton[/name_m] - I noticed that you both like names with “on” endings, and this one has some things in common with many of the names on your list
[name_m]Colton[/name_m] - like [name_m]Cole[/name_m], but with that “on” ending
[name_m]Dalton[/name_m] - another “on” ending name that I like, but maybe it matches with [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] too much?
[name_m]Drake[/name_m] - could be a good compromise between [name_m]Derek[/name_m] and [name_m]Jake[/name_m]
[name_m]Gage[/name_m] - [name_u]Chase[/name_u] always makes me think of [name_m]Gage[/name_m] for some reason
[name_m]Gordon[/name_m] - [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] always reminds me of the singer [name_m]Bob[/name_m] [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]. [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] is similar to [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], and also the first name of folk singer [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] Lightfoot, making it a good fit!
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] - similar to [name_m]Graham[/name_m], without the cracker association!
[name_m]Grayson[/name_m] - also similar to [name_m]Graham[/name_m], with the “on” ending as well (or just [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is nice too!)
[name_m]Jason[/name_m] - sounds like [name_u]Mason[/name_u], but only about as popular as [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] - another one that ends in “on” and is also a good fit with [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] since it’s reminiscent of [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Simon[/name_m] of [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and Garfunkel!
I hope this gives you some ideas, and I wish you good luck in finding the right name!
