We are having baby number two! We didn’t find out gender so this really could not even matter, but we can’t find a boy name that feels “right”. We love the classics and prefer the shortened version rather than the long (ex [name_u]Sam[/name_u] vs [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Ben[/name_m] vs [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], etc). Some names we have considered are [name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. For middle names we want to use [name_u]Michael[/name_u] or [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] depending on first name. We don’t love when it runs together and feels like one word (ex [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] with the two m’s). Our last name starts with L and ends with -er. We don’t love when the first name also ends with -er or ends with -l, just for the flow.
I’m at a loss. It took us months to come up with a boy name last pregnancy and we ended with a pretty basic choice! Any suggestions welcome
[name_u]Jack[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is so handsome!! [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] would be a great choice. I would look for a short name with a different vowel sound than [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. Suggestions:
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] L
[name_u]Daniel[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] L
[name_u]Edward[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] L
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] L
[name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] L
[name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] L
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] L
[name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] L
[name_m]Alan[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] L
[name_u]Eli[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] L
[name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] L
[name_u]Cal[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] L
I like [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_u]Henry[/name_u] or Charlie* from your set. I like [name_u]James[/name_u] but wouldn’t have a [name_u]Jack[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u], and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] is OK but I would use [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] in this context.
*I would also use [name_u]Charles[/name_u] nn [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] just so he has option of [name_u]Charles[/name_u] in certain settings (eg work, legal docs etc) as an adult. I like [name_u]Sam[/name_u] as a stand-alone (ie instead of Samuel) but [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] has the -ie ending which makes it more cutesy so I think having [name_u]Charles[/name_u] as a backup is worth considering. [name_u]Sam[/name_u] isn’t quite as punchy and winsome as [name_u]Jack[/name_u] - it’s more of a likeable, laidback name.
I like both [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] but it seems like you can’t use [name_u]Michael[/name_u] bc of your last name starting with L (I am the same with same letters running into each other).
I like [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u], [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u], [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] & [name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u]. [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] is such an unsung gem of a name especially as a middle where said in full.
In addition to [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u], which could be great, other names you might like:
[name_u]Leo[/name_u] (you may need to change [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] if use Leo)
[name_u]Harry[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m]
[name_u]Callum[/name_u] “Cal”
[name_u]Wesley[/name_u]
Tobias/Toby
[name_u]Curtis[/name_u]
[name_u]Drew[/name_u] (tricky with Joseph)
[name_u]Wyatt[/name_u]
