[b]ETA: I’m resurrecting this thread because we found out last week that we are indeed having boy #3 and we are hopelessly clueless on names. So, to update… my husband has vetoed ALL of the names up top, and from the suggestions already made, he vetoed Asher and Dexter. I then asked him to suggest some names and he came up with:
Leonard
Harvey
August
I do not like Leonard and I’m on the fence about Harvey and August, leaning towards August as a favorite so far. We have decided on a middle name of Joseph, after my father. So, the only name in the running so far is:
August Joseph
Please help me add to this list! I am really open to anything that isn’t in the Top 100 at this point and we really need the help. Do your thang, Berries![/b]
Original Post:
Hello Berries!
I am currently pregnant with #3 and am back to revising my name lists. We have been pregnant several times in the last year and a half, but have suffered several miscarriages. So far, this pregnancy is looking like it might stick around and I’m getting excited enough to pick out names. I realized that my tastes have changed quite a bit from the last time by the looks of my lists. I like names that are traditional, but underused and with a modern feel. I will not consider names in the top 100 (yes, I know [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is pretty close these days - but it wasn’t when we chose it!). Here are the names we’re considering currently if this baby is a boy (subject to change and very open to suggestions):
[name_u]Lennox[/name_u] (I love nicknames and “[name_u]Lennie[/name_u]” seems really cute to me for a baby)
[name_u]Cato[/name_u] (maybe too close to [name_m]Callum[/name_m])
[name_u]Blaise[/name_u] ([name_u]Love[/name_u] that this is a traditional name, but has that word name type feel with [name_u]Blaze[/name_u])
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] (NN [name_u]Dash[/name_u] - super cute!)
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] (Not sure why, but I do like it)
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] ([name_u]Love[/name_u] this one, but I’m a little scared to name a kid [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], because the 2 I have are wild enough!)
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] (has that same Biblical, yet modern feel that [name_m]Silas[/name_m] has)
Thoughts? Additions? Critiques? I’m open to it all.
I love [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] and [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], and both go great with [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. I love [name_u]Dash[/name_u] as a nn too!
[name_u]Cato[/name_u] - I agree too close to [name_m]Callum[/name_m].
[name_u]Blaise[/name_u] - I don’t like word names and think of [name_u]Blaze[/name_u].
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - not my style, but also doesn’t seem to fit as well with [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] in my opinion.
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] – really like this name but I would be paranoid! I really like this as a middle name.
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] – I’m not crazy about this name but think it goes well with your other names.
Congratulations!!

I love [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]! What a handsome trio [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] would be a close second.
I love [name_u]Lennox[/name_u], [name_u]Cato[/name_u], and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. I think with [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m], I choose from [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] (I like [name_m]Knox[/name_m] as a nn), [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], and [name_u]Asa[/name_u]. [name_u]Asa[/name_u] strikes me as a really nice fit.

Please help me add to this list! I am really open to anything that isn’t in the Top 100 at this point and we really need the help. [name_f]Do[/name_f] your thang, Berries!
Thank you!! From your list I like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], but he’s vetoed both of those at some point on our journey of naming 3 boys. See what I’m working with here? So stubborn!!!
I also like [name_m]Ivan[/name_m], but it bad no idea how popular it is. Geez!!!
Ok so you need something that sounds good with brothers names and middle [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]… Did I miss any criteria there?Your sons have lovely names that say gent rather than tyke to me,Trying not to repeat initials or endings
[name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m] and…
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Dennis[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Kenneth[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
(Last 3 have added bonus of repeated letters like [name_m]SilaS[/name_m] and [name_m]CaLLum[/name_m] - keNNeth, deNNis, viNceNt)
[name_m]Feel[/name_m] like you want to steer clear of anything too L heavy as it can sound a bit themy with your other sons. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you want to keep the 2 syllable names going? A 1 syllable name options: [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]Drew[/name_u], [name_m]Witt[/name_m]
Variations on other names you mentioned
[name_m]Heath[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Ike[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Anton[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Austin[/name_m]/[name_u]Austen[/name_u] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] (personally I prefer the en spelling for the literary connection and the softer pronouciation)
[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Clement[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you give some feedback on what (if anything) is going in the right direction for you or what feels off about suggestions. If hubby keeps vetoing it really helps to get him to explain why he doesn’t like the names, helps you work towards a target of what the right name is. maybe start with a list of the things you like about your sons names and what you want to replicate/avoid for next baby. Also be wary of only saying [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m] and INSERT [name_u]BABY[/name_u] NAME. [name_f]Remember[/name_f] that you will also call them in different orders so remember to try all variations…that’s why I thought to avoid heavy L sound for you, I thought of a couple of L names but said eg [name_m]CaLLum[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]SiLas[/name_m] seemed to bring out the L sound far more than [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] do on their own- plus the double M in this example also sounded too matchy.
